PROFESSIONAL difficulty - The true PES 2010!

Eureka! At the risk of sounding like the master of the obvious, I'm going to tell you about my discovery and realisation. In PES 2010, in any format, the 'PROFESSIONAL' difficulty level is more difficult than 'TOP PLAYER'. The games played in 'professional' are much much more realistic and organic that the 'top player' games.

  • In 'professional' difficulty, I see the players truly behave according to their abilties, attributes and the cards.
  • The AI in 'professional' is lot more challenging, adventurous and exciting than 'top player'.
  • The AI defence in 'professional' is world class. You just don't get any cheap goals.
  • There is no response time issue at all in 'professional' difficulty while it is still there in 'top player'. The goalkeepers are just brilliant in 'professional'. No more silly slips and in fact, I've seen many blinders which I've never seen before in 'top player' in PES 2010.
  • Having played several hours in 'top player' and in 'edit mode' (I've spent more time editing than playing!), I have understood PES 2010 very well. In 'professional' games, there are no cheap goals either for you or for the AI. Every goal is earned.

So, switch over to 'PROFESSIONAL' difficulty. That's where you see the challenge and realism!

I don't know whether that is entirely true or not, but I will say that in the demo I played on Proffessional and the games were much more varied and exciting from the AI, compared to the boring pass-pass-pass-until-you-yourself-pass-out football the AI plays on Top Player.

I'll probably give it a try and compare the results over a few games or so.

Professional is so much better. Top Player just holds the ball for ever and if you close them down faster they just pass it faster. So annoying. I just lost only my second ML game ever against Boca Juniors on pro difficulty 0-4. It was the Konami Cup as well and i had like 90G on the line for the achievement. The game was a fix! I have been beating teams like 5-0 and suddenly the one game that really matters i loose? Definitely a fix. No1 should use Top Player.

I decided to play Professional level as I wanted a challenge in my Man City Master League. I have to agree with you it is amazing, it has made my title run in more interesting.

Thanks! Will Professional level be too hard for someone who hasn't played WE/PES since WE7?? :)

All right guys! Good that you're enjoying the 'professional' difficulty.

Now can you share with us about the quality of goalkeepers in 'professional' difficulty? I thought they were just brilliant!

It could be a bit tough when you start but stick with it. 'Professional' is where the game is challenging, adventurous, exciting and realistic.

Thanks. Professional level doesn't turn them game into ping-pong does it?

Hoping to get PES10 soon - hence the questions!

Ah! I must have made myself clear there. I'm playing on 'professional' after my tweaks for short passing speed etc. So no ping pong for me. If yot just want to test my claim on pro level, just play a match in the dutch league etc.

i'm sick too with the boring pass-pass-pass-until-you-yourself-pass-out football the AI plays on Top Player as CAN7ONA said...i will try professional but i doubt that it could make any difference! i'll tell you after 5-6 matches though ;)

Trust me, you can tell after just ONE match. That's what it took me :)

The problem with Top Player is that the AI cheats more than professional and it provides certain defence splits that you can use to your advantage. On professional it attacks you less but defends more sort of and less AI cheating too.

I was playing top ever since I got the game but last week I went down a notch to professional and it is so much better and more realistic but less challenging. It's weird that the cpu is much more adventurous on pro. They don't keep the ball in their own half for too long. There's no huge stat boost for the cpu either. On top every player is as strong as Drogba, so that little cmf is able to easily out muscle your cmf every fuckin time. You're basically forced to play hot potato cuz their players are so strong and yours are so weak. My players now do neat flicks and fancy things with the ball much more often compared to top. Maybe it's cuz they don't have an opponent glued to them 24/7. I think the number one improvement is that the pace of the game is miles slower on pro.

I find pro more easy than top but at least there's a real resemblance of football now. On top it's as if Konami just threw all football sense out the window just to make the game harder. Basically, Konami cheated when creating top player lol. Most of the times I didn't feel like I was playing football, more like rugby or hockey lol. Last week I was getting fed up and ready to go pick up a copy of Fifa 10 but since the switch to professional I'm enjoying Pes 2010 once again.
