I just tried the professional level and found it alot of fun but it´s to easy. The Ai defenders dont try their best when tackling and it´s way to easy to go up the flanks.

^The game is not hard even on top player. I hope konami releases a patch to makes defenders more aggresive an AI attacks more.

Yes, it can be. That's because Konami have under-rated almost all full backs and wing backs. That's where my v3 comes into picture. I'm planning to update the attack, defence and response stats for the players so that they really challenge you.

Eureka! At the risk of sounding like the master of the obvious, I'm going to tell you about my discovery and realisation. In PES 2010, in any format, the 'PROFESSIONAL' difficulty level is more difficult than 'TOP PLAYER'. The games played in 'professional' are much much more realistic and organic that the 'top player' games.

  • In 'professional' difficulty, I see the players truly behave according to their abilties, attributes and the cards.
  • The AI in 'professional' is lot more challenging, adventurous and exciting than 'top player'.
  • The AI defence in 'professional' is world class. You just don't get any cheap goals.
  • There is no response time issue at all in 'professional' difficulty while it is still there in 'top player'. The goalkeepers are just brilliant in 'professional'. No more silly slips and in fact, I've seen many blinders which I've never seen before in 'top player' in PES 2010.
  • Having played several hours in 'top player' and in 'edit mode' (I've spent more time editing than playing!), I have understood PES 2010 very well. In 'professional' games, there are no cheap goals either for you or for the AI. Every goal is earned.

So, switch over to 'PROFESSIONAL' difficulty. That's where you see the challenge and realism!

Finally someone but me notice this, I've been preaching about this since PES2009 was fairly new.
In PES2009 an edited "skills" OF and Normal was the most dynamic, but as you say, Professional is excellent in PES2010 after you've changed the minimums on most teams tactic sliders to at least 60. (and ofcourse overall response to a minimum of 75)

SOunds good - I will try it. My only concern is that I had to notch it up to 'Top Player' so that my Master League was competitive (on Pro I was smashing everyone). But I imagine that with your edits then the general feel of the whole game changes anyway.

yes i play professional and even tho i lost 2 games in ml and draw maybe 3 or 4 games the game play is much more fun because sometimes the good teams may come and take the lead but then it sets up where its possible for u to come back and tie or win the game and when u lose its not like u got spanked its really challenging ....im loving it because in professional the top teams also struggle to break the top 4 and the points are very evenly spread out...for those who wish to play top player and just watch the computer pass pass pass till u put the controller down or they score have fun....

Oh please everybody, try we 2010,this is the real we/pes.i am begging you all to try we 2010,please....

I've been following your posts on WE 2010t. I'm tempted to buy it based on your recommendations. My only worry is the option files with original kits. Are there good option files for WE 2010? Tell us about the difficulty levels (not just the superstar, the other difficulty levels too). How's the quality of AI attacks?

for bluechampion,i am very happy if i have friend that have same feeling with me.

the option file is very limited,my we 2010 version got Japanese and English language,so far honestly i just got 1 option file that update the squad and transfer.but i am sure you will update the squad yourself because it is very satisfied to play.

about the difficulty level and ai attack,i will tell you the story: i am playing superstar level, and when i play it,i got feeling i can win it(if you playing ps2 version,i know you will understand this feeling:)).
this is not the superstar level is easier but it is because i play better in we 2010 version.the ai also not pass, pass, and pass only, like in pes 2010 version.

so please try we 2010 bluechampion,
if you have question just feel free to ask me in my thread:

I too prefer Professional over top player. The latter provides a more open, end to end game of football. Top player in my experience seems to either be a game where dominating possession of the ball is not met by a team hungry to get it back. Or possession is shared but the passing game is not quite right so it would seem lucky passes over skilled control result in goals. Professional though seems to get it right. I recall being 4-0 up against AC Milan in the CL group stage, I was coasting but they kept coming at me and with Pato netting two 2nd half goals I knew the game was still on. You can go from a high scoring game like that to a game where the chances are plenty, both sides fighting for the win but the final Score will either be 1-0 or find yourself wondering how it was a draw. This for me is PES gaming.

Im sticking to top player, i changed it to prof to test it out and i found tht the defence of the AI aint tht good and they tend to rush the ball upfield and make more mistakes, sure its end to end stuff but you expect the like ov chelsea n man utd to play a passing game,

top player seems more realistic with build up from the back and then 1 pass which splits your defence and bang ther in your half and pressing n stretching ur defence

If the defence on pro just put their foot in more often then it would be imense. The good teams on pro are really good on my game now everyones players are developing.

Tried Pro level in the demo and wasn't really impressed. They still ping-pong the ball around, usually making passes that make no real sense. Still I'll try it on the full game when I get it.

I agree Professional is a lot better, but easier! I want to see Konami get rid of players passing the ball like robots! They don't look up, they stick their left or right leg tot he ground and with the other leg they pass like a robot! It's poor, but I think I'll start playing on Professional now!

I agree that on Top difficulty the opposition plays a very possession minded game. Personally I play a high pressure game, using the 2nd-player pressure control to pressure the man on the ball while I run to pressure the obvious pass target. I admire the AI for being able to keep the ball but agree that it needs to do something with it. Can be very boring. At the same time though, if you back off from the AI team it will attack and can be quite clever - they sometimes even get one or two past me.

I play ML with 5 min games on Pro and important matches on 10 mins on Top. Regardless of how the other team attacks (or not) on Top, with Pro the opposition defense is too weak and I feel like I'm cheating as my average ML team can beat anyone. I will often win 2-0 against good teams and 4-0 against poor teams in a 5 min Pro match.

IMO - Pro is too easy. But I take your point about it being a bit boring playing on Top Player as they are boring ball hogs.
