In previous PES's if I put my right back or left back to stay behind they would stay behind with the other defenders. In PES 2010 no matter what I do they always end up in the other teams half corner flag. If I set up the team to defend deep, and I place my left and right back to my own goal line they still keep bombing forward. The only way is to set them as CB, which give them worse stats but still they will go forward
The same can be said for Wingers but in reverse. If I set my wingers to stay forward they still come back into my half to get the ball, instead i have to set hem as SS or CF which gives them worse stats..
When On-line I use Roma/Juventus/Fulham or Barcelona if I am facing Real Madrid/Inter/England/Barcelona or any team with a player of speed faster than 90 this now includes Man UTD. The fastest players for my teams are often the left or right back but you cannot defend against fast players if they are standing in the opponents half while the opponents attackers are in my half.
As for realism when Chelsea played Barcelona the left and right back did not even go into Barcelona's half. This has made defending against fast players like Ronaldo a nightmare as my Right and Left back are no where near him, plus when you combine this with the dreadful collision detection and awful player switching that does not choose the player in front of the attacker, you often end up with a benny hill moment with 4 players chasing the attacker doing nothing but running beside the attacker and the defenders running away from the attacker.
