you have to be online with your ps3 and once you start the game, it asks you automatically for updates...in case of downloading extra-content, you have to start the game and there's the possibility to download extra-content in game-menue...don't know atm the name, but think it's the one after editor-mode (in pes 2011 game-menue, where you also choose the master-league,etc)...
