I Hate It When They Do This:

Ali

It is happening again
The same day that Dead Space 2 is released in the US, they announce that DLC will be released soon. It's a bloody rip off. All these companies moan when people buy 2nd hand games, it's no bloody wonder when they keep doing shit like this! I wouldn't be surprised if it's already on the disk, and we just pay for the code to unlock it.

Your damn right, Ali. 40 quid for a game and then they want more money just for some extra levels or characters?? Ever heard of a subconcept within sales called aftercare? Fuck right off.

I wouldn't mind if the DLC was actually cheap. For example, I know buying a further 4-5 maps on Call of Duty is worth my money to an extent because I'll get a lot of play out of them, however it shouldn't cost 1200 Xbox points (£8-10 I think). From what I've heard as well for the Black Ops maps, and probably with all maps in fact, is that they were created during the game's original development and simply weren't included in the game for one reason or another (didn't make the cut perhaps?), so to then later charge extra, and a fairly substantial amount in gaming context is just silly.

It seems now that every title has at least 2 or 3 DLCs, which generally add up to around £15+, some undoubtedly topping £25+. That's when it goes from somewhat 'acceptable' to just insulting.

I don't mind DLC, I welcome it. But the fact that a lot of the time, DLC is announced as soon as the game comes out or even before it comes out annoys me. Because you know they've already been developing it before the game came out. Even worse when the DLC is already on the released disk, you just have to buy a code to unlock it, like Resident Evil 5 for example.

Games like Uncharted 2 and RDR had their pricing spot on. I bet there's somebody out there who's bought every song for Guitar Hero or Rock Band. They release songs every week... must cost a bloody fortune.
