[PES Update March 2011] Speculation about players getting better stats

Ali

It is happening again
Pretty good roster and kit update. Unfortunately it's 40 days too late. Which is very bad in one aspect but very good in another aspect as it means they've been busy on PES 2012.

Is it out??

The update was announced today, released on the 15th:

PES 2011: New DLC revealed

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has revealed the content of its latest free DLC for PES 2011.

The update will be available to PlayStation(R)3, Xbox 360 and PC-DVD users from March 15th, and updates a number of elements to the full game. Winter transfers and movements up to the end of the January transfer window have been updated for 135 Club teams, while Spain’s new kit and the Swedish national team’s away kit have been added. Ten new boot styles from adidas, NIKE, PUMA and Umbro have also been added.

I quite like the look of Spain's new kit, Sweden's isn't bad either. Also like the look of those Puma V1.10 boots.

It says "updated for 135 club teams".... is that all of them?

I can't see them spending much time updating the lesser known Eredivisie players, no matter how much the deserve it. I'll be surprised if there's any updates at all, if there is, I can only see it happening for the big players.

maybe for 2012 they need to actually ask someone who knows what he is doing per league, cus now its just to random.
but to stay on topic, we can always keep dreaming right :D
and some of the players i called are not lesser know players.

@KONAMI: I'll be more then willing to help you fix the correct stats for Erer Divisie players next year; read PES 2012

Obviously some of the Ajax, PSV and Feyenoord players will be well known. Maybe a few of the Twente ones too. Konami never spend very much time on these players. Hell, they hardly spend any time on any of our players (which you could argue are more well known than a lot of the Eredivisie players, because the Premierleague gets more coverage). I mean... Matt Taylor is one of our best players in PES! Matt Taylor!! He's useless in real life!! As is Mustapha Riga!

Regarding players who might get an upgrade (if any), is it possible that only players who get transferred or have new faces created might get stats updates?

Just a theory, but it looks like Kroos and OBinna might fall into this category... though I don't know for sure since I don't know off hand when the last stat change/update took place.

Regardless of the Kroos and Obinna examples though, it makes some sense, because, for example, we know for a fact that Konami are going to go to the trouble of editting Andy Carroll, who doesn't have a realistic face in the game (IMO) and also requires a transfer, so it's logical that they "might as well" edit his stats while they're at it, whereas someone like Nuri Sahin or Wilshere might actually be less likely since they are at the same club. Wilshere does need a new face though, so there's that...

Anyway, just a thought. This is why I bought Song by the way. I think they will want to give him his bleached hair so they might also revisit his stats, which I think could be a bit better. Again, I'm a biased gooner, but these are the players I know best, so that's where I focus of course.

PS - I noticed Wilshere is now in the top three "rising stars" in the transfer market (#2 I believe), so obviously more and more people are expecting his and other players stats to get an increase. Suarez is up there now too, but that might come down to his performance against Man U on the weekend. I've noticed some of the other players I've bought with this in mind like Kraft and Sahin have also been skyrocketing...

How do you know for a fact that they will edit Andy Carroll's face? I haven't read this anywhere...

If they do, I hope they can do Wilshere's as well

Agree with you on that.
Still doesn't mean Konami can spend some extra money / time on getting stats right for certain divisions. Its is even in england, some players are very underrated vs the likes of manutd or chelsea players.

Just speculation. We know they will transfer him, and his face isn't right (again, just my opinion) so it wouldn't make sense to transfer him but not redo his face properly. Keep in mind they have added new (i.e. real) faces for several other players in previous updates, so it would be nothing new.

As for Wilshere, again, I agree, his face is way off, but if they were to edit his face don't you think they would likely adjust his stats too?

Maybe I'm just being hopeful.

PS - See, Jack's stats listed here are pretty much exactly what I was saying, better actually. Ok, again, I was off for defense, but not by much. Can't wait to see what Konami rate him as if they do a stat update!

This point is, this really isn't about Wilshere at all. In fact, I think there's a real problem with how Konami rate young players. They've had this problem for a long time, and it has more to do with the lack of depth in their development system than anything else. I said this about the way they rated Rooney when he was younger too by the way. I mean, his shooting ability at that age was way under-rated. In other words, Konami don't seem to be able to model young and highly-talented players correctly, simply because if they try to do so they will get too good in ML by the time they are in their mid 20s.

I think that's the real problem. Just my opinion though. In fact, the way I see it, because of the development system they have they may not actually be able to make the kinds of stat changes they want to for Jack, which is sad really -- that their own system might limit their ability to give players ratings which are in line with their performances in real life.

Absolutely I agree with that. They cannot have youngsters too good too early or they either end up with a 150 rating or they have to plateau them at 25 yrs old. Using Wilshire was purely providing focus to the argument over the whole point of bothering with updates on stats in the first place and who is it that is 'right' on their statistical appraisals. Of which, we're just another two people with yet two more opinions :)

He played mainly out on the left with Bolton last year, had some decent performances and was rated accordingly (stat wise and positionally). Had Arsenal been injury free this season or had actually bought some experienced players would he have gotten the games in to prove his worth? Maybe, maybe not. Remember it was Ramsey who was playing a lot for Arsenal last year.

Now should Sturridge get juiced up ratings for PES2012 based on his Bolton appearances this season? Maybe he's ready to break out next year? Maybe he returns to the Chelsea bench as their 3rd or 4th option. It's all so very difficult to say but Konami give it a shot for better or worse. I prefer Konami is cautious on the ratings for young players and would rather they remain so.

I have Wilshire, Carroll, Henderson, McCarthy, Meyler on my ML-offline team and in season4 Henderson is the best of that lot. Will he really be in 2014...I'll bookmark this post and return with an answer

I'm almost sure that Szczesny, Wilshere, Carroll and David Luiz will receive preset faces and maybe updated stats, while McEachran (Chelsea) will be added to the game.

Capt Canuck - Wilshere was decent, but not great for us last season. So his rating at the start of the game was fair.
Danny Sturridge is alread pretty good in PES 2011, apart from his finishing.... which is ironically the skill in which he has excelled in since joining us.

I'll be shocked if Nando keeps his default stats. Arshavin as well.
Moussa Sow needs a massive update. He's a 70 now and currently leads Ligue 1 with like 17 goals! No easy feat in Ligue 1. I'd put him at a 77 overall.

overall rating has nothing to do how good someone is.
check out Sneijder (inter Milan), when you edit him and add 1 or 2 points at certain abilities his overall will go up immensely. So please don't look at overall ratings cuz they say nothing on how good a player is.

Agreed, they are misleading! I wouldn't say they say nothing about how good a player is, but they are definitely not an absolute rating.

I'm personally still not clear on whether the overal positional rating actually makes a player better or not though. For example, if I play a good overall player in a position he's doesn't play in, and his overall rating drops to say 50, then does he actually play worse, i.e. lose speed, abilities, satamina, etc?

Okay then I drop the overall bit, but but I still think Sow needs a massive update. What I mean to say is with his current stats there is no way you could rack up goals like what he does in real life. Increase his condition/consistency then.

Its looking more and more likely that there won't be stat updates. Thats gunna be one big disappointment, I mean if you're going to make everyone wait a month and a half, make it worthwhile! Most people will have done the major transfers themselves and I doubt many will really care for the boots. Thew new Spain kit is a nice addition but there has to more than that, can't justify the long wait otherwise...

of course they will change the stats. they did it the last two years as well. whenever there has been a DLC changing the team rosters KONAMI also changed the stats. anything else wouldn't be tolerable after the one month delay. i don't even expect them to fix the bugs. actually after all this years of PES i can hardly imagine playing without them... :D Just change the stats - otherwise PES hits rock bottom (again)...
