Well, the title says it all really. I picked up PES 11 in October and played it for a while and whilst I could see many positives, there were a few game-breaking issues for me.
So after a few months of playing FIFA (and having had enough of it) I am checking back in to find out if the issues that I found frustrating back in October have been addressed via a patch. If so, then I'll get a copy of the game and give it another try
Below were my gripes back in October.
- Passing is my biggest gripe with this game. Firstly it is way too accurate. Not sure why they made such a big fuss about it being better and more realistic. Balls travel at an unrealistic speed (too fast) most of the time. They more often than not reach the receiver, with very little effort on teh CPU's part to intercept the pass.
- Player awareness. When I play against the CPU the ball would frequently pass a Centimetre in front of the CPU's player's feet and they would just watch it get by without making an attempt at intercepting the ball. This is more evident on through passes.
- Player movement is generally flawed. Players run too fast when they are chasing a through ball. It's as if they have a rocket in their boots. Conversely, CPU defenders choose to take a nap precisely at the same moment when my players are making a run. Players don't make clever runs and often I almost pump into my own player whilst waiting and turning and waiting for him to make a run. This does not seem to change if I alter the strategies.
- Ball physics are questionable to say the least.
- Cameras. Why did Konami ditch the old camera system with angle and zoom? I really hate the cameras on PES 11. I would have loved to be able to play the game on the camera shown at kick off (before it's elevated). Why not give us this option?
Have any of these been addressed?
Thanks in advance
