Pes 2011 is hard!

Of course they're flawed. And they always will be. Expecting perfection is completely unreasonable, all I expect is a fun game that is somewhere near a realistic sim. With PES 2011, we have that.

When did I say I wanted perfection?
All I ASK is for a ps3/360 football sim that's all. They're both ps2 quality when compared to games like red dead redemption and Assassins creed.
I never said pes 11 was bad. I myself am having fun with it. Reminds me of pes 6 tbh and I congratulated konami for that because pes 10 was in a state of a disaster and pes 11 is a much better sim.

But still it doens't feel like a ps3/360 GAME SHOULD. However, with all that said, Pes 11 for me is an overall good simulation.

I've had every PES game, apart from PES4 and PES2010. I'm not exactly an expert at the game but I like to think I understand all the basics. I'm playing on Top Player but I'm not losing any games.

I know what you're thinking, 'Why the **** is he complaining if he keeps winning', but I want a challenge in the game. I won't get any better playing a game I can beat. They're not massive wins, but I'm never really under any pressure.

My past 7 games have been:
West Ham: 3-0 win
Aston Villa: 3-1 win
Chelsea: 1-1
VfL Wolfsburg: 2-0 win
Arsenal: 2-1 win
AEK Athens: 3-1 win
Bolton Wanderers: 2-1 win

So I'm just wondering, are there any settings that can make this game harder for me? I also prefer not to play online, I've had bad experience playing Pro Evo, Fifa and NHL online in the past.

@lukeblackwel

Iv'e said this before but what i do is simple, I only use manual pass for ground passes and manual cross for crosses, stats are still effected by manual yet you have to think more about each pass. I still win majority of games but it feels much more rewarding this way.

Just a suggestion you may already do this for all I know, you could also search the forum for gameplay edit patches.

I play offline ML and offline 2player btw.

Never used it before, completely forgot about it actually. Thanks I'll give them a shot :)

No problem, give it time though mate, not patronising you but it can be fucking hard at first. Be as precise as you can when aiming with the analog, also the way you position your player is crucial.

You can literally pass the ball anywhere with manual pass(full 360 ratio depending on your aim and player position) you'll also notice a subtle difference between the players ability despite it being named manual.

Manual cross is fantastic and opens up many possibilities and can cause havoc against humans or cpu, I find manual cross very hard to master though.

Played against Birmingham City, I started using it straight away and was 2-1 down at the end of the first half. It is hard to get used to, both of their goals were cheap give-a-ways because of the passing lol. I've replaced my through balls with manual passing completely.

Now having actually lost a game, I look forward to the rest of the season :D

The games become more realistic as possession can swap hands at a more realistic rate, I guarantee if you stick at it will come natural to you but the game will still remain a challenge as every pass is different.

Another thing that makes the game harder and more beautiful to look at, play in broadcast cam, ultra realistic and positioning your players is even harder, as is making a pass. Strange at first but it reminds me more of the last gen cam. If you lose position the AI will punish you, the graphics also look better.

S-D-P, interested in your manual cross from above - by manual cross are you describing a manual long pass (e.g., L2 + O on ps3)? My guess is that would be challenging. Worth a try because I feel like most auto-crosses (single or double click on O) just get cleared by a defender anyway. I wouldn't mind a little more control.

Yes, manual long pass. Starting to get the hang of it now, can be really tricky though. You can get some really nice variation using this.

thanks. I am a bad long passer to begin with - either too short or too long and booted over a line. I may have some laughs starting out with it.

Don't worry mate, Iv'e used it for 4 months yet I still rifle the ball to the other end of the field like a retard, thus creating a perfect counter attack for the opponent. I also do those embarrassing dinks that go nowhere or just balloon the ball into the stand when using manual sometimes, trust me the embarrassment is worth it when you get it right though.

Good luck with it, and don't let the old PES rage get the better of you like I do.

^ Pes is a game where rage is inevitable. :)
Anyway I always play with manual cross because normal crosses aren't good enough. They are almost always over hit, while in manual it'll be your fault if you over hit it.
I just wish that pes would make the power bar for all passes, crosses and free kicks rise slightly slower. That way we'll have more user input.

Quote "I used to be into Fifa didnt realy bother with Pes, but I'm glad I have now its much more realistic."

Glad you seen the light ,bud now you know why PES is superior; not bragging; much lol but I myself have converted 4 or 5 people to prefer PES and none of them have played Fifa since...untill 11.. and that didnt last long either....

So

there's another convertee and another shot in the eye for the unconvincing Fifa bandwagon

I actually find PES2011 a touch easy now, playing MLO taught me how to play the game at a faster tempo and the AI isn't good enough to replicate that.

What is a problem is how the AI gets round this though. With some inexplicable 'quirks' ... I've had to stop playing it on numerous occasions to save myself blowing a gasket

LOL sounds familier...

Well whenever in my leage im up against the big guns or some team at the top of the table, I give it that bit extra knowing that the AI wont give up as easy and doing this seems to work as I seem to win more against them than against mediocre teams lol

daft but true...
