Attacking help

New to PES and football games in general here. I would just like some general suggestions on offensive technique and the fundamentals of PES. Two things I can think of at the moment:

1) Penetrating the penalty area in any capacity seems nearly impossible unless I'm completing improbable deliveries. I'm talking rare, telegraphed throughs, crosses, and the like — yes I've played with the difficulties, but anything below professional is unrealistically easy, and top player just seems more redundant as opposed to being tougher.

2) Crowds = loss of possession. I pass, but the AI-controlled teammates seem more interested in standing around watching the ball than attacking and creating lanes and opportunities.

Also, I can hardly dribble the ball in traffic without bumbling it away, even with guys like Messi or Ronaldo. On that note, is there another button to take longer touches? The two commands I'm aware of now are unresponsive and require you to be sprinting — a move that's hardly conducive to maintaining possession. I'd just like to be able to lead the ball in a certain direction whether I'm at a standstill, or escaping traffic.

I would like to emphasize that I realize these are massive user errors and not game-related flaws, so some assistance could help with the health of my controllers and my blood pressure. I really want to like this game, because I already bought it, and don't want to lighten my wallet by selling my soul to FIFA.

Passing wise after almost every pass I press R2 , this makes the player make a forward run (invaluable). Tactic wise it seems unless I have player support at least at 15 offensive they dont get forward as much as I would like also a deep defense can mess you up too.

I understand your opinion on top player , the AI park the bus most games and dont let them take a lead :D I find if you play the ball out wide or switch play, generally moving the ball around you can create space. Me I just hit 15 longshots a game haha

Dribbling. Tough one , sometimes just holding R2 (so not sprinting) is better you can change direction quicker etc It can be effectice if you were sprinting ran at the CB with R2 turn sprint etc (not that easy)

If you tap R2 you can stop still, you can perform feints 1 of these wilk tap the ball in front of you (90%sure) ,In tactics go to the feints menu or go to practice mode.

Sorry for the double post the PS3 browser has a character limit.

You probably know this but a double tap of sprint knocks the ball ahead of you, changing directions while sprinting press R2 it will knock it even further ahead of you. A trick I sometimes use is L2 + R3 plus a direction on the left stick this flicks the ball in front of you.

It can be useful if the middles congested to get wide or if your good skin a defender. So thats L2 +click rightstick and point where you want to go. Careful dont click the left stick or youll dive lol

Hope theres something in there thatll help you out oh and if your Xbox you figure out the buttons :D

from a still postion, doesn't R1+R2 give you a bit more of a knock on the ball. I think this can be performed without sprinting.

I think in all my hours of playing I stopped a player maybe twice. perhaps I should be using this feature more. Actually I wish if you removed your hands from the control your player would just stop. I guess Seabass is just implementing Newton's laws of physics - A body in motion tends to remain in motion unless acted upon by an outside force.

Are you playing online or offline? For me the game is like night and day. Online is a disaster. Offline is enjoyable.

I like to play games online but this one has too many problems. MLO is a brilliant concept but there is something wrong with the consistency of online play. I came to this game late as I switched from FIFA. I had lots of losses to make money and build my MLO team. After a ton of losses I had a competent sqaud and made my way to D2. Since then I likely will be relegated to D4 this week. What I realise now is it is mostly random streaks. A string of good connections means points gained. Bad connections equal losses. This week I have lost to 3 D5 teams each worth 16mil and a team that was 20-230. In each of these games completing a pass was a challenge and I might have had 2 shots on goal combined. During the loss to the 20-230 team I turned the game off halfway thru as I was down 2-0. There was no point in continuing. Unplayable. All my players act like they have triple purple arrows. LAG.

This site is loaded with fanboys who for some reason don't like to admit the egregious errors of this game. Likely a bunch of children hoping to be testers of 12.

It's your network what is the problem then, sure you get the odd laggy game. But if your getting constant lag it's your fault.Offline is enjoyable? Maybe on easy but it's awful on top player.

Any advice on beating defenders one-on-one?
lots of dribbles :)
roullete/rainbow flick/front flick

and just so you know... when the top player has possesion... it can get very hard to get the ball back.. but when he is in your penalty area.. just try to think where he will pass...and try to block the spot in the end.. you will take the ball back.

learn to control your possesion.. pass the ball without losing to ball by pressure.. after passing the ball and then the oppsition comes you can press R2 for a quick turn so you can pass the other guy
when there are less of your teammates around and its hard to attack.. you can allways go back and start your attack again.

when attacking .. most of the players will start running to attack...
all you have to do is relax and think of what you are going to do...
there are few situation... when its just delivering the ball...
the key to win is to relax and think of your action

try to pass the ball into the upside area or downside area and then very often you will see the players starts to attack or waiting for a pass.. so they will have the chance beat the defance
try deliever the ball by Triangle/Triangle and R1 (in the air) and circule

hope it helps :)
