Let me straighten it out for you.....
Fifa isn't the game that is struggling here .....PES is.
Fifa remains the front runner over PES in all ...and I repeat ....all areas.
Don't get sucked into the rumors and personal opinions that 30 or 40 fans here try to force down our throats.....

I was a little disillusioned with PES as been playing it non stop and just needed a break. I got caught up in the whole change this and change that philosophy, last night I had five games and they were stunners for different reasons. No goaly errors which was rare lol.
But after my PES burn out I decided to have a switch and put on FIFA. I won my FIRST GAME back after not playing it for two weeks 5-1 against Fulham (World Class 8 minute halves). That tells me right there, offline at least, all I still need to know about FIFA, at least in my eyes.
Now online I'm no expert, I had a blast playing FIFA11 last year online, In thought the servers were good and lag was minimal, I haven't as of yet tried it this year. PES, for me anyway, is a close disaster online. Everytime I play the lag ruins everything, response of the players is awful, the game is just pants online (for my setup anyway).
BUT, I'm not an online player anyway so this doesn't bother me, although i confess that in this day and age KONAMI should have gotten their server act together by now for the community that do want to play online.
But offline, FIFA still has no soul. As my fourth and fifth goals were reigning in I got no sense of achievement, just the sense that once again on a FIFA game I had found it's soft spots almost immediately. I finessed my way with the uber precise finishes, it didn't matter if it was on Adam or Downing's left or right foot, just equally as proficient off both. There is a little individuality, but they are blur into one player for me. The gameplay is really simplistic if you think about it this year with FIFA, and that is to go back and forth until around the area then just have patience, a one two will come off and you're in. Also I'm finding I can punch huge holes down the CPU flanks.
I also believe that the 'midfield battles' are merely an illusion to give the impression to the player that FIFA has gone more sim. The contain function is next to meaningless and the CPU seem to score 102% of their goals from basically having the advantage of being a computer programme and having faster reflexes than you when their attacker is at the corner of the eighteen yard box to magically dart passed your defender (who is always left one on one lol) to get inside you for a cheap goal. Tell me, even if I hold up play with Carragher against Walcott there is no defensive team mate support lol, when do you ever see a speed merchant against a slow coach just constantly being left one on one all game. I suppose you could combat the cheating burst of pace by playing with sliders but then that just feels that you're cheating the CPU.
PES has some flaws, but fk me I can't go two minutes now when playing FIFA without spotting some rubbish AI movement, or just general things that grate with me. I played that game last night then played Arsenal, I was 2-0 up inside 40 mins before I pressed the reset button. I'm telling you, you play PES Top Player or Superstar and then come back to FIFA, it's like you've been training for the Marines and coming back to the Cadets!!

Lol. You gotta admit its interesting reading!. Even though slightly off the football topic. Everyone has there opinion and that's fair enough, Micho made his point again and again and again in this thread as i stated, People are getting pissed off now id guess. At the end of the day if people are not sure wether to buy the game, Rent it from blockbusters or somewhere, Borrow it off a friend. I personally and many others are glad we bought it!
Ha-ha! Hey, I'm having fun with FIFA this year. But at it's core, it still a child's toy when it comes to offline gameplay. No CPU strategy, no CPU formation changes or tactic switching, all teams playing exactly the same. And the shifting into god mode where third tier teams suddenly all play like Barca... weak, weak AI game programming, bro.
Other than that, there are some beautiful and well-done aspects: shooting, animations, presentation. I would recommend the game, definitely. But it's still FIFA, and it's still a typical EA game, meaning it's designed and geared toward the gaming crowd that's not really interested in real football and football strategy.

@techboy, I totally agree with you on fifa 12's AI. It crates this illusion that it is difficult when in reality, it's just cheat, after cheat after cheat and the result is a trash CPU AI programming.
Seriously, fifa 12's AI is a total illusion. Think about it.
Every Ai player is messi, EVEN CARROL has the control ability of messi, WHY? Because of his beastly strength, he has a magical fortress surrounding him and your defenders will never get close to him as he simply pushes them around like barbie dolls because they would hit this invisible fortress. HOW COME NO ONE IS MENTIONING THIS? It's a game breaker for me.
The 2nd gamebreaker is also an AI glitch. Ever noticed that 99.9% of air balls will be won by the AI resulting in a perfect header on goal?
The AI is extremely cheap and shallow to a point where it's laughable.
Pes 12, for all it's flaws still plays the better game. However pes needs to add more midfield pressure. Not mindless pressure. But more pressure in the midfield and still close down the spaces wouldn't hurt. Another thing about pes 12 is the dribble accuracy and speed merchant. Speed merchant is overpowered and the dribbling is not good enough. I mean the close control is a bit too close sometimes.
The defending, although many may hate it, is not a mes at all. It's slightly unfinished. But overall, as a general idea of defending, it's there. In real life, that is how you defend. However, as I said, if they tone down the close control a bit, make more midfield pressure and make slightly better standing tackles, then the game would be extremely good. Ofcourse, tone down speed merchant too.

Surely you can see that as an offline game for some people fifa is just not worth it, I could mention many areas where its falls behind pes with regards to fundamental gameplay, although I respect fifa as a football game I find it very one dimensional and for me player individuality and AI is still not good enough to keep me playing for more than a week.
Dont know why you seem so desperate for people to feel the same as you, bit sad really.
