Barca/Real, What is the problem?

You could either set the attack style to wide and have 2 wide mids to send in crosses or cut in and play some triangles with other players, or set 2 amf behind the 1 striker and player through the middle. However, not having wide mids means the opponent can come onto your backline quickly as the wide spaces will be left open. It depends how comfortable you feel.

Fast players do help but not essential. Try a few games online.

In the first couple of games I tried this tactic, I lost easily. But after tweaking a little here and there to suit my style and make the tactic more effective, I started getting results regularly.

Just played 3 games. 1st game I picked Stoke City, opponent inmediatly picked Barca.. Lost 3-0. 2nd match I lost 1-0, third I lost 2-1. I feel playing a medium team makes me a better defender, I just find it very difficult to make goals. My players don't rush forward fast enough when I'm counter-attacking. When my opponent gets a corner, and I manage to get the ball, I usually am alone or with 1 other teammate against his 4 defenders. Do you have any tips on how to let my teammates rush forward as soon as I have a counter chance?

Shock horror your opponent god straight for barca. What a weak narrow minded individual.

I now pick the Spurs when opponent picks Barca and is a decent player. They are quite good to be honest. I play pretty defensive, with Lennon and Bale on the sides. vd Vaart CM, Adebayor CF and the rest CV or DM. When my opponent is weak, I sometimes pick Stoke City Galatasaray or Besiktas. Stoke is fun, they have all giant players at the back, so you dont have to worry about Barca's crossings.

How do the communities work exactly? I get invitations all the time, but I dont really see the big advantages of playing in a community (mainly because there are not a lot of people in them, and I dont know how to play matches there..)

Sometimes I pick Barca, simply because they play magnificent. It's just that the joy of beating Barca is much greater then winning with them.

You may want to put player support to 15 or more, meaning more and quicker support when attacking. Sometimes you may need to give the odd backward or sideward pass to proceed with the counter-attack. Look at how Germany dismantled England in the World Cup. The problem with high support is that if you dally around for too long and loose the ball whilst most of your players are high up the pitch, your opponent could destroy you on the counter.

Try doing a few 1-2s as this will enable players to move forward after passing the ball rather than staying static. Also, utilise the map. Sometimes a player on the far side is free, so a long ball to him could be highly fruitful.

Think smart. For example, you are with Pennant down the right wing with no support apart from the lone striker who is gingerly strolling into the box, and you’re surrounded by the defenders, so nowhere to really go. I would try an early cross, as:

1) If it goes near the penalty area, the striker has a chance of winning it as he is running onto the ball.

2) If it goes into the box and the defender heads it away, there is a chance that one of your players will latch onto the clearance.

3) If the defenders surrounding you block the cross, there is a chance the ball will go out for a throw. On the restart for the throw-in, you will have more players forward (due to the mechanics of the game).

Vary your game. When 35 yards out, try through balls sometimes, whilst sometimes try long shots, other times spray the ball out wide for someone to cross it in.

Sounds good. I'll give it a try this afternoon. I just wonder where you place your RH and LH. I have them a little over half the pitch. They are placed quite far to the side. Unfortunatly, if I put Pennant (or any other player) LH, he tends to run all over the pitch. Sometimes he plays LB, sometimes he's even completely on the other side (which is annoying cause I can't rely on him to cover the left side during a counter and it ruins his condition). I have the 'players change position' set to zero/never, so I expect them to stay pretty much were I put them. Is there a way to let the LH and RH stay on the sides, preventing them from covering all the pitch? Does it help when I place them on the outer sides (in the corners) of the pitch, as a RWA/LWA, or is that a bad tactic when you play with 5 defenders (which I guess it is, since you only have 2 midfielders left..)

I sort of vary where the wide midfielders are. Sometimes they are on the half way line, other times they are half way up the opponents’ half. It depends on how I want to approach the game. You may find that is is more effective to have 3 players (2 wide midfielders + 1 striker) against someone as this means you don’t need to wait for backup. However, if you attack quickly with these 3, you may be limited to what you can do as the rest of the team may not be able to catch up in time. So, having players slightly deeper and setting player support to high will enable you to attack quickly as a unit.

In regards to wide players moving about, try placing them right next to the touch line, basically hogging the edge.

Sometimes I set player change position to a high number as I like my players to move about and for less advanced players to join the attack. Plus, when players exchange places and move about, it creates a slight unpredictability in my play. Since you are going to set 5 CBs, you should have decent cover all the time if you get hit on the counter. But it’s always easier to defend with a defensive midfielder protecting the backline. You have to decide whether you can cope with Ronaldo and et al running at you defence without any cover.

In other situations I find that my 2 wide players plus the striker are good enough to win me the match, so I set player support to low, enabling me to attack effectively whilst staying solid at the back.

I guess you have to find the balance that suits you.

i see no problem as long as both players have equally balanced teams.

Its only annoying when you choose Blackburn and the other player chooses Barca haha

Yeah, that exactly annoys me too. When I quickly pick a 3/4 star team, the opponent still scrolls to Barca. I usually ask him to be a decent player and pick an equal team, but I usually get responds like 'suck my ****' or something similar. It strikes me how many people find it necessary to be abusive. Don't they understand PES is just a game, which should be played for fun:-/ I beated a guy with Spurs (he was Milan) yesterday. It was a nice game, and I won 3-2. I had 17 shots, he had 6. At the end, he starts saying i'm an idiot because I only use one-two's and crosses and I should get myself killed. In a way it is funny to see those guys flipping over a game, but it does make you think if they are the same in real life:erm:

What frustrates big time are players that, when they score 1-0, they start playing superdefensive and passing the ball in defence in a way you aren't able to get the ball. Those players should really get banned inmediatly. Isn't there a place where you can report these guys?:eek:bamahmm:
