Saints Row : The Third (PS3/360) Q4 2011 *Scan Heavy*

Just did the alternative final mission run I did

Save Shaundi and Lori then "Saints in Space" first then the kill Killbane and destroy the deadalus second

Both brilliant, preferred the first ending though as it was the "good" ending.

On 92% trophies, may well try and make this my first platinum run as not much left to do to achieve that. Had to give my Don a sexchange though so I could get another trophy. Kept everything apart from the body, so still got the cockney voice and insults.

I find the helicopter flying quite easy.

Not played this since just before Xmas but I'm planning to get on it later.

Haven't done any missions in a while but enjoying doing all the activities. I've got up to 95% in the morning star territory now.

Yeah that's how I did it really, got distracted by the city takeover side of things so did nearly all the activities I could before going along with the missions, but that made the main game a little easy as I had upgraded weapons, character attributes, gang attributes etc so the final mission was a breeze.

When I finished the last mission I levelled up to Level 50 (the upper cap) now and basically by buying all the perks available to me, I am an Immortal God who cannot be damaged by anything, will never die and never runs out of ammo or never has to reload a weapon. I'm glad I didn't buy the last few (such as immunity to bullets, fire, explosions etc) until after the finale.

I've 100% the island on the far right and I'm on 97% on the island in the middle. There's one gang hideout on the roof to secure the 100% just gotta find a chopper to get up there. It's pretty hard to get there with a plane.

Edit:

Done, Huzzaah

Just met STAG, blimey they take some serious punishment, even their own weapons or armour piercing takes a while to do any damage. Starting to buy abilities and other general extra's as the combat is getting alot tougher now.

Jonno what happened to your post you made earlier?

Was just doing a guardian angel mission and I failed right at the last because I fired an rpg which proppelled a speeding truck up into the air and knocked my helicopter out the sky. Was hilarious till I realised I had to start again.

I deleted it and didn't think anyone had a chance to read it. Basically the assassin mission I managed to do as you can do your targets while involved in an activity (there is a snatch activity in the territory so started that and morning stars turned up).

Gonna give the STAG car mission another go as others have said it is possible whereas others have said it cannot be done on a later save. I will report back.

Need to do 15 carjackings and then 3 challenges (car surf for 10 minutes - done 4, base jump into the target 15 times - done 6, and do the 26 random phonecall survivals - done 10) and thats my platinum. Can't be arsed with all the stunt jumps or barnstorming though.

I really think this is one of my favourite games of all time! Alongside Read Dead Redemption and Fallout 3, this is the best open world game i've played. Mafia 2 would be in that list if it had more activities tbh.

This makes me want to go back and replay the whole game with Zombie voice

Early Act one scene, possible spoilers

I used the zombie voice early on and I forgot about this. My favourite exhange is with the Kinzie, I can't recall how the conversation goes other than my character gargling something incoherent in his Zombie tones and her replying "... Yeah I'd get help with that".

Just completed the mission where you battle Matt Miller of the Deckers ... how far do I have to go in terms of missions? I've yet to unlock everything or capture a full area. I'm finding the 'hard' difficulty Prof Genki tough, I just can't get enough points, I'm always about 500 short. Its doing my nut.

You're in the last act now and there are about 10 missions left, about 3 or so are somewhat are short, some are quite lengthy. All are great fun!

Got to admit I never had a problem with any of the genki missions, infact i go back to them because they're just too damn fun, I hope the Genki DLC is just as entertaining.

Make sure you combo headshots in quick succession and shoot every cash and ethical pop up boards (one or two each round) and dodge traps. Is the "hard" one the one where you start in a room with 4 doors around you?

Aye, I think so. All I know is I've rushed through the level and then taken my time on it and I've still failed to get the requisite points. I've been hitting headshots in quick succession, the ethical and cash boards but just falling short. I have to admit I actually enjoy playing Genki just using melee, top notch fun.

Never tried it with Melee, i'll have to go back to it soon.

Remember you get points for dodging traps as well, other than that, fuck knows as I remember I did it first go, and have re-done it a few times (getting the "kill 200 mascots" challenge) without fail.....

I've got the Bo Duke'em award as well as the Haters gonna hate. Although the latter is mainly due to me bunkering down in a Crusader tank and wiping out all before me. They are amazingly resilient in fact too much so. My favourite form of transportation is the STAG Heli/plan, v-tol? Easily the best flying vehicle in the game.

Nah, there's one more STAG vehicle you get access in a few missions time, it's easily better than anything else in the game imo :) (in terms of getting around and not firepower)

Yeah most of the 41 challenges come just by playing the game as is, but some I had to put effort into like thumbs up/down to rival gang members and the last three I have left (base jumping into the circle and Car Surfing)

I put over 6 hours solid gameplay in it today and if I complete the main story before everything else is the option still there to continue playing after?

Yeah, everything is still there for you, you can replay the final mission as there are two paths available to you as well, but once you do it a second time that option is gone, and it's just city takeover left for you and obviously the 41 challenges, 36 assassination missions and 30 carjacking missions.

Good stuff, I've enjoyed the game tremendously so I'd almost hate to complete it.

I tried to re-do some of the other missions that have alternate ending but it wasn't possible due to auto-save. Rather frustrating.
