I hated the first 2012 demo last season, but liked the 2nd one. I didn't play the full game for very long before gettting annoyed, but who's to say I won't change my mind over 2013 when the next demo comes around?

Maybe I would have liked it more if Sminky and Mak didn't big it up as the 2nd coming.... damn you raising my expectations to unimaginable levels!

Another thing going against PES this season for me, is that Bolton won't be in it. I've always done my first ML as Bolton in each game, so that option won't be available in the next game. Obviously I could create Bolton, or d/l an OF with them in it.... but it's not the same, I hate using fake teams.

Mak and I have seen the beauty of PES2013, its a thing to behold.

As for the Bolton quibble

I've never used QPR, even though the team was absurdly useful on PES2012 with the uber pace of Cisse and Wright-Phillips. I'll start out as I always do, with a low order French club and build them up. Playing Premier League doesn't appeal to me, its a bit too frenetic.

If the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A is included in the game I'll start with that. Flamengooooooooooooooooo!

I've only played a few games so far, so I'll keep this brief until later on:

It plays well, but the goalkeeping animations are still dated, and the keepers still perform quite poorly - and this is just from a few matches. Imagine playing 100 matches? Then it will really start to irritate.

From the games I had played I thought the keepers were actually better. They seemed "safer" than they were in PES 2012. In PES 2012 the keepers always seemed to fumble and palm everything into a dangerous area. That doesn't seem to happen so much in this one. The keepers seem more active in this one already, coming of there line and claiming things. This is of course my early assessment of things.

One thing I will say is does anyone find superstar a bit too easy? I mean like I am dominating the match always 60% or there abouts in possession and creating lots of chances while the computer gets like 1 chance. Played 5 games, won 4 and drew 1 with the computer only scoring 1 which was a beastily free kick from Gerrard. I pressed square for my wall to jump and no one jumped  1 player attempted to run at the free kick taker and the other 3 did absolutely nothing!

Yeah, I've found Superstar easier, but then the AI can still carve you open so I'm not too critical of Superstar on PES2013. I like it.

Nah man, I'm not digging that at all, but are you comparing them to FIFA?

Nope, I very rarely play FIFA. Don't even own the game. Only if I'm ever round a friends house who just happens to have a console and the game - which is quite rare.

But yes, the goalkeepers still need improving. The worst animation of all - and has been for some years now - is the one when the shot might be quite pacey, but fairly central to where the goalkeeper is standing. The goalkeeper will dive, but with his hands tucked in, in an attempt to catch it - but failing every time I believe. Instead of this awkward, unrealistic attempt of a close catch, why not just have the hands closed, and use it as an opportunity to punch the more powerful shot away? Makes more sense, and of course, doesn't look poor and borderline glitchy.

How is playing in the French league different? AI can't be that different really.

My quibble about Bolton is a fairly valid one for me. It's not a deal breaker, but I like playing as Bolton in PES games. I've always done an ML with them, ever since they were introduced to PES, plus I tend to play with them quite a bit online too, I seem to do well with them, rarely lose. It just loses that extra spark for me, not being able to play with my beloved Bolton.
It's different for you, QPR have only been in 1 PES game (ie the last one... which you didn't really play much).

Well, with the clear exception of PSG the teams aren't nearly as good. Well that is for the first season and then they all start buying players and theirs develop. Its more sedate. I prefer to play the big league teams in the Champions League, makes that tournament even more challenging knowing I've got a fight on my hands.

I still wouldn't want to play as the team I support, I'd get frustrated if I didn't do well with them. Would ruin the gaming experience.

Well if the 2nd demo is tripe then I'll just stick to playing friendlies on the first demo. It's enjoyable enough as it is for me.

Played quite a few full matches on this demo now and the goalkeeping is a huge improvement over what konami have served us lately.

A few minor quibbles with the demo is they still have the stupid kick off where your players get in each others way and just go stumbling off and leave the ball if you turn the wrong direction at kick off...And night time matches look horrible compared to day time games, it's like someone's ramped up the contrast.

You mustn't support them that much, you don't even want to mention their name.

Playing as Bolton seems to give me a boost. I have more determination to win with them.

My main quibble is that the demo on the PS3 is just too short with limited match options.

I've haven't been a fan of Konami's night game presentation. Too dark and gloomy in 2011 and 2012. On top of that, because they are always sticking in the UEFA CL with marketing, they always have night games in commericals - so dark and gloomy looking.

I got pissed off last night that 2013 is not on the U.S. store despite the inclusion of several Copa Lib teams for the Americas. Thanks to those who suggested the Euro account trick. But I am a bit miffed at the continually horrible Konami marketing plan that would undergo this mode of operation. No wonder why EA is killing them here, they don't understand basic marketing. The girl scouts who sell cookies in our neighborhood do a better job.

In terms of PES2013 against PES2012, have Konami again rotated the release across territories? Last year the UK was one of the last areas to have access to it, I'm hoping its different this year as I found it a bit of damn cheek that we had to wait bloody weeks for it compared to Europe and the US.

It seems to me to be the lazy mindset at Konami. If a fly on the wall, I bet I would hear - oh don't worry, the people in the U.S. will just create a dummy account to access the Euro store......oh don't worry, they will just create option files.....oh don't worry, some 14 year old will fix the rosters and make it available.....oh don't worry, they will create a patch to fix keepers/speed of game/shooting/tackling.......oh don't worry, they love the swoosh of graphic that precedes every replay and after every dead ball.

I don't understand their reticence at a universal release, is there a particular issue with this logistically that means they can't?!

They release the game in most of Europe before the UK to stop people ordering it from the UK because it's cheaper over here.
