I've probably played around 50 matches now. I play on top player, and after a lot of trial and error I've found a setup I like: 2 on pass assist, manual shooting off and control player with arrows instead of L-stick (old habit from the good old days.. :p). I've enjoyed the demo a lot (the best pes experience I've had in a long, long time! Pes 12's scripting made me stop playing altogether, but in this version I haven't felt cheated yet..) , but there is one thing I struggle with, and that is breaking through the defense. The defenders intercepts my passes easily and it's really hard to break through! I refuse to play at a lover than Top Player level, that's not challenging enough.. :p But I'm getting really frustrated now! Although it's fun to have a challenge I feel like I'm doing something wrong, like I haven't found the "key" to unlock the defense.. :-/ I've never had this much problem breaking down the defense before.. Anybody got any tips..?

PES fans are you worried about FIFA 13?

Immediately after picking up the pad we knew EA had once again taken the football simulation to a different level. The sports game publishing giant has not rested on its laurels and is determined to cement its advantage over rival Pro Evolution Soccer.

In the time we got to play FIFA 13 we didn't really get much examples of this addition as a lot of players were still getting caught offside, but apparently the system is still being tweaked. We did on occasion though see Robin van Persie bending his run to beat the offside trap, which, quite frankly was beautiful.

EA are going with the tag line 'predictably unpredictable' for their new sports title but these days it seems predictably predictable that FIFA will come out on top in the battle of football sims.

I have noticed that you like to ask questions, so I just thought I'd add some of my own.....

When exactly was it that EA took football simulation to a different level?

Tell, me, am I missing something, when I think that "Robin van Persie bending his run to beat the offside trap" is completely out of your control as a gamer? And that for the mentioned reason, it will only affect the timing of passing, but will not actually revolutionize the way you play the game?

Am I missing something, when I think that a feature which is completely out of your control and therefore only adds an "aesthetic" improvement to the game, does not actually amounts to taking football simulation to another level?

And lastly, why do you think that consumers should be "worried" about FIFA13?

This. The R2 dribbling on PES2013 is fooking superb, I've been using it a lot with Ronaldinho and it finally feels rewarding to dribble on PES2013 ... and its not overpowered because tackling is more intuitive, the balance has been found. Konami have found a rewarding formula, after years of "well, I guess its ok" and "meh".

PES11?

PES12?

if this is actual FIFA 13 footage is it safe to say PES wins easily this year?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-urxrhar1s

How can you come to that conclusion a) from a video that's 21 seconds long and b) that you haven't had the chance to play?

Also, why does there have to be a 'winner' just play which ever game you prefer...

I think you're getting ahead of yourself with regards to the PES demo, the final game could be completely different.

"PES fans are you worried about FIFA 13?"

As far as I'm concerned, I'll buy whichever seems the best, from the downloadable demos. Until then, I won't make any assumptions. Would be quite silly to do so, I think.

So far, PES2013 is looking like a definite purchase. Only if the 2nd demo is absolutely dire, will it stop me from buying.

Not got much cash so I may give FIFA a miss this year if their demo doesn't blow me away.

Fifa 11 and 12 play more or less the same to me. Same hollow dressed up turd Fifa.

Just as bad as tHe idiotic FIFA fanboys who insult PES, just because they prefer FIFA.

I do actually agree that FIFA will most likely be a retouch of FIFA 10-12, and that I don't really enjoy FIFA's style of play - but there are ways of saying things that don't mean you come across as a complete idiot.

Fifa 11 and 12 are very similar.
And as I see it Fifa is a average footballing experience but dressed up very nicely AKA what I previously said in my last post..
