Not looking promising for a PS3 release of the Dawnguard DLC...

Skyrim vampire add-on Dawnguard may never come to PS3, Bethesda forewarned overnight - and nor may the newly announced Hearthfire DLC, either.
There's a technical problem with Skyrim on PS3, and "this is not a problem we're positive we can solve", Bethesda's global community lead "gstaff" wrote on the company's forum.

Regarding Hearthfire, due on 360 on the 4th Sept...

Hearthfire, the next slice of Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim DLC, will arrive for Xbox 360 on 4th September, Bethesda has announced.
For 400 Microsoft Points you'll be able to design, build and customise your own home.
Players can purchase a plot of land, then turn raw materials into a cosy new abode. Various rooms, such as a kitchen or library will be available.
These will have uses too - a greenhouse, enchanter's tower or alchemy lab can be used to grow and craft items.
Furniture, display cases and trophies can be added to make things a little more homely.
And there's even room for a garden, fish hatchery and bee hives outside.
Not got time to faff about with DIY? You can hire a steward to buy materials and turn them into furnishings for you.
You can even hire your own bard, invite your spouse to move in with you and adopt a child. You'll need to protect and educate your brood while defending the homestead from those irritating monster invasions.

An interesting expansion, obviously devised to give the player a more interactive experience. Will have to see how well it works. That said, at 400ms points, it's actually pretty damn cheap.

*RETIRED*
I've purposely avoided Skyrim for months so that around Christmas-time I can purchase Dawnguard and Hearthfire and then continue on my merry journey.

No doubt I'll spend a day searching for, installing and uninstalling the best mods that have come out in the meantime as well.

First impressions....

I like the fact that you build in stages, the place can look like a building site at times! It's not an easy job mind. You can get your housecarl to buy certain materials to save you mining or shopping for them, but some things... Corundum ore being a pain in the arse for locks. Not that prevalent in the game world and you can usually only purchase one piece at a time. Mining is the only really easy way.

Not really done any interior decoration yet, taking long enough to build the outside!

An interesting addition that allows you to spend the stupendous amount of cash you can amass. That said, I think I would have preferred another story based addition, or the inclusion of new weapon and armour grades. Have heard rumour that the Dwarves may make an appearance in a future expansion. Then again there has also been talk of a new area covering Elsweyr, so not everything is to be believed...

Yep. The mods available for the PC are vast and varied. Bethesda are basically cherry-picking the best (and most viable) to package up and sell to us console users.

While it may seem a con, the software being used was created and made available for this very purpose, so realistically every mod released becomes intellectual property of Bethesda.

No doubt at some point they will release packs and a GOTY edition as they did with Oblivion, across all formats.

Thanks for that, Gr33n :serial:

I have no idea what you mean, inferior person that you are :joel:

On a more disturbing side note, I now have three Louis Letrushs' outside the stables at Whiterun. Buggers don't die either

Well, I have no Louis Letrusch's in my game, which is slightly annoying, given that I'm in the middle of the Black-Briar/horse quest.

Bammers Good news (in theory)...

We are gonna keep trying to get it to work. Haven't given up yet.

The PS3 version of Skyrim Dawnguard has not been canceled, as fans should disregard any rumors that point to such conclusions. Bethesda is still trying to work out the technical issues that they are having with Dawnguard on the PS3, as Sony is also providing help in this process. Hopefully Bethesda will be able to find a solution for this problem soon.

Yeh, but I haven't taken my PS3 to uni. I'm coming home fairly often though (don't live far away), so I suppose I'll be on from time to time.

What did I tell you? 1st year at Uni is easy! You'll get loads of free time. :)

Yes Ali, free time indeed, but doubtless it'll be at the SU, spending his first quarter loan on beer :D Won't be taking his PS3 with him...

I didn't take my PS2 to Uni, or my keyboard when I first went. After a few weeks, but I was lost without them, so I ended up taking them. Are you at Uni now? I'm guessing other people will be taking their consoles. Uni work/getting drunk shouldn't prevent you from playing your PS3. :)

I am at Uni currently. If I had a TV, I might bring my PS3, but I'm not gonna bring both a TV and a PS3. I'll be coming back fairly regularly though, so I'll be on from time to time.
