Team PESGaming - FIFA 14 Clubs [PS3]

I'll use lesser teams, just not Championship shit.

Really? You never use them online? I do. I use League 1 teams every now and then.... think I've bobbed into League 2 on occasion. Those matches tend to be the most enjoyable for me. I was Preston and Oldham on Sunday. My opponent in the Preston match was a bit of a dick... you know, the type that just plays lobbed through balls all the time. So I gave him a bit of his own medicine so to speak, using Preston's main strength - the one and only Kevin Davies. :D

I know sometimes people are saying things are too rushed with us, but FIFA Clubs does not work like how One on One when you control the whole team works and if people haven't figured that out yet, then they never will. Clubs is more like the Premier League, where you have to act fast or you either lose the ball and the opposition goes up the other end and score or you lose the chance to score. Pretty passes aren't as important as just getting the pass off.

Joel's right. Last season, I went back and forth between PESG FC and a mates team. My mate's team preferred a patient passing approach, which is also my preference, but we struggled to get higher than division 7. Playing the direct style that PESGaming uses is much more efficient and productive. You would have to be excellent in order to play possession football on Clubs, excluding using an ANY. The pace of the game and pressing is too intense to hold on to the ball. I think maybe only Original? can hold on to the ball for prolonged periods....by boy does he know it!

I don't necessarily agree with the conclusion. I think it can and does work, the best teams we've played have played realistic possession football with a patient build up. I also don't agree that others can't hold onto the ball under pressure, the way we play does make it more difficult though. Too often people are reluctant to take the ball to feet, we end up playing more through balls than we should. This is particularly true against human centre backs.

Half of the time I'm screaming at him (in my head at least) to pass the sodding ball!

I would... if you weren't the only one open!

I don't know if I can agree with that at all. The best teams we've played are the ones who have killed the game in the first half by winning the ball and then countering quickly with blistering pace. This is just my opinion of course.

I wouldn't call them the best teams, as generally, it takes shocking defending and some luck for those teams. The very best teams make us spend the entire game chasing the ball. These teams are few and far between but they're a class above the speed merchants and hacked VP teams that rely on wedging their sprint button down.

But seriously, less dribbling :folarm:. I don't think any of us are particularly good at it tbh. Tends to be more unsuccessful dribbles than successful ones.

Sorry, I won't be dribbling less. I have been accused of dribbling a lot before, I dribble less as a result.

I don't think I dribble more than many other people, you included. The statistics at the end of the match also refute your suggestion that they tend to be unsuccessful more often than not. Generally, statistics are an area of Fifa that is lacking, for example I'd be surprised if I cover as much ground with the ball as many other players. I tend to step in side or outside a man to try and play the ball at the right time and angle. Does it always work? No. Am I constantly trying to beat men and work a shot? No, I average just over 1 shot a game. For these reasons, I won't be changing that aspect of the way I play. If lots of people disagree, I'd be happy to hear counter points.

On a separate note, long range straight free kicks are horrid without a target man playing as there's no angle to work with. I think we need to think of a strategy for them, my suggestion would be for someone to stand wide of the opposite side of the goal with the aim of heading it back across the face. Maybe Bish or one of the others closer to 6' when Barn isn't on, I still think for straighter free kicks something like this would be best when Barn is on.

Has anyone thought of giving the mics another go? Might help significantly with shape and team work, particularly when we go behind.

I'll use mine tonight if I can find it.

I had my mic ready the other day but nobody else had theirs on so I didn't bother turning mine on. I'll use mine if others are using theirs but I won't sit there talking to myself. I'm not a fan of the text chat as I don't have any sort of keyboard attachment for my controller so typing messages takes an age.

On free-kicks I've been trying to start a run from the edge of the box so that when the ball is played in I can perhaps get more power on it or at least have a better chance of winning it. I have very little chance of winning the header from a standing position.

i am just going mic the next time i'm on. If no one else uses, well you are just going to have to listen to a yank gabbing away, and occasional singing.

Neither do I, hence the abbreviations and text speak. Makes me feel dirty but typing on the controller takes so long. I'll use mine.

The run would also work well on a knock down, where you'd probably have a better chance of winning it. From wider free kicks it's not such a problem as I can whip it in with curl.

Thanks, Joel. I was a bit nervous when I found myself in that position tbh. But then I remembered my life motto: 'Be rich off the field and be bitch on the field' and I knew what I had to do.

Also, I liked how they were so pissed off with our late winner that they gave us another one for free.
