After leaving PES behind in 2012 to play FIFA, I secretly always wanted to come back to my old love and this year I have. Unfortunately I find PES 16 to be the worst football sim I've ever played.

Its the first football game I've played that literally doesn't feel like a football game.

The passing is wishy washy. Goal keepers are an embarrassment, the layout of the game still looks nasty, crowd graphics are awful. All in all I'm so disappointed and after a couple of months may trade this in for FIFA. Its also wrong that we're having to change game speed etc... To try and make up for the games failures. What are konami smoking.

*Phew* I thought you were going to wax lyrical about how it's 'good to be back!'

I hate PES 2016, and I'm of the opinion that they destroyed the PES series on purpose. I spent weeks trying to make the best of a bad situation, knowing that I was settling for second best. Changing the goalkeeper attributes to '99' didn't achieve much either, they were still programmed to let in those low shots from the CPU that go towards either corner of the net.

I've gone back to PES 2013 (Xbox 360), and I'm enjoying it tremendously, so much better than today's stripped-down version of the game (both in terms of offline content, and CPU AI programming). Conarmy only really care about raking in money via MyCrap™.

As for FIFA 16- EA Sports have destroyed that with gameplay patches- look on their official FIFA forum, people are begging for them to return the game to its pre-patched state. They've made it faster and more arcade-like, and now the referees are a joke as well. I can't see it getting better, neither company cares about offline gamers any more. I quit playing online before I got my PS4 in 2013, I prefer to play alone, where I can play like a simulation, and not get quit on if I'm winning!

The best thing I did was to get shut of both PES 2016, and FIFA 16- life's too short to be frustrated with a game that is SUPPOSED to be engaging, and fun to play! I won't be falling for any EA/Konami chicanery this year!

Think I will head back to Fifa 13. Was happy with that one. If it ain't broke...
