Nicks PES 6 review INC online.
Right this is the first thread I have started so firstly want to apologise for any spelling mistakes I will likely make, but hey its the inet and you just wana vaguely make out what im trying to say.
I know im not the first to review it, but I havent noticed (baring in mind I haven't gone through every post) many things regarding the online game.
First things first, I got the game today for a reasonable 30 quid at a manufactor we all kno
And id like to thank some people on here that mentioned it was available otherwise I wouldn't have had an extra day or two with it
So, i've spent an evening scouring a few menus, playing a few games, checking initial transfers an things like that.
Menu presentation, while i guess not a bar with the more commerical games of the world, an still sticking with the jazz, is improved further an looks better an feels easier to navigate.
Match Engine, argueabley most important thing.
Slower, as people have said, but not in a slow way where its lumbersome, its slow as in the real speed of the game its properly the best speed, all round for players, ball speed etc, that any pro evo has done. Passing is similar to pes5, but you have to make sure you face the target a bit more to avoid passing to no one so to speak.
Shooting is a little easier if you can make the space, but making the space is a little trickier against the tougher teams, making for good matches.
Heading, volleying is a little easier, and doesnt feel impossible to win anymore in certain situations, which impressed me a lot, an players feel like they have weight to them, like Rooney for instance can knock players out of his way an is a excellant tackler for a forward now much like real life.
In game graphics are best yet on a playstation, crowd appears during match days too (didnt notice online was concentrating on game)
Licences you've heard about already so I wont go there, but can confirm everything thats been said if you want just ask.
PES shop hasnt changed too much, costumes addition i think is inappropriate where you can buy penguins dinosaurs ostriches to come out on or play as or something... but rest of shop is as ud expect but sadly lacks a harder difficulty mode.
Difficulty, as been mentioned, is no longer judged by stars but by words such as amatuer, pro, top player etc
Edit Mode is fully in as you'd expect
Reebok Cup has joined the Cups available like konami, european world etc, Master League mode the WEFA cups have been renamed to European, but I havent had time to try out the master league yet was busy just looking around.
The international challenge is an intresting mode where you pick your international squad before each match (like international football) an then you pick a squad for the International cup finals (granted you get there, there is a playoff group if you dont win the group proper)
once you qualify its just basically the international cup, but it is a good additition to have a road to world cup mode, which has been in the winning eleven series for a few games i think.
Random match mode you can pick random players based on europe one/europe two/south america etc, or based on leagues such as english league, la liga, eredivise, other teams etc
an they seem to pick a few average players an a few star players so not quite random but still very interesting addition
Right anyways....
PEOPLE INTERESTED IN JUST READING ABOUT ONLINE GAMING ON PES6 STOP HERE!!!!
got your attention? right okay
Set up an music is exactly the same as PES6 logging in etc and I had no problems, even tho the offical start is 12 pm on the 26th/10/06
So by time you read this it will be active properly.
Its open now as i write this but they warn you theres a risk if you play before there could be a few glitches/crashes an data losses aka your wins/friends list could disappear
But i HAD to test it out to find out if the rumor was true that lag is non existant online...
So i make my temp password (gonna make a real one tommorrow, anyone want it for a game sometime just ask an ill send you it)
an name etc an sign in, navigation is slightly different from PES5 online but took about 5 mins to figure out
While doing this... intriguingly, when your asked to join a server, the options available are
"english ps2"
"english pc"
"french ps2"
etc....
yes i think you can play pc pes gamers on ps2 BUT i didnt check but if anyone wants me too I will tommorrow, i just wanted to test the ps2 but thought id mention that there is an option to join a pc server on a ps2...
so get past that, then of course the usual choice of rooms to find players in again like pes5, then gets a bit different
all the options are then on the next screen, which are
match room - where you can create/join games
quick match - guessing a quick join game
competition - you can join competitions online
yes i kno no one reported this before, there was none available when i played but theres expected to be lots
network options - where you change all your pre made match messages etc
information - messages regarding if the server has gone down, maintenance etc
view data - where you manage friends lists, messages, view your profile, results rankings
right now match room, you join that an wait for people to join you in there, of which a maximum of 4 playstation 2s join the room, of which each can support 2 players ( leading to maximum of 8 players )
an you can have 4 vs 4, 6 vs 2, 3 vs 1 etc
its awesome, really awesome it is so much better than pes5 online mode, you will all love it.
only captains (the first player on the team) can pick teams an selections, which makes sence but could potentially lead to some idiots messing it up for other people, but i didnt really have any problems on there in that aspect
now... the actual online match...
no... there is no, or next to no lag! its 95% better than pes 5, i had no problems there was only one glitch an even then it repaired an resumed the game, i was very very impressed with it an this was when i had a 3 vs 2 match! all in all its a excellant presentation , an in group games your divisional score doesnt go up, but your points do, so they are worth doing still.
also, you can make groups an they can earn points much like players
right anyways, im mega tired... i will answer any questions that are still left to be asked/answered tommorrow, and ill sum up by saying, minus the whole german league being taken out, im very very impressed with pes6... i look forward to making the comparison post with fifa in the near future
thanks for reading, hope for some feedback
