The playmaker in old PES games meant that when the playmaker receives the ball, his teammates will try to make runs into space (because he have excellent passing ability). However, whether this concept is still active I don't know.

Well, thank you for sharing this. But never trust Konami again unless you FEEL it with your hands. Will they return the league mode is essential for me. No matter how good the game would be, if no league mode, no PES 2014 for me.
