(2008) Master League newbie - Team type

Okay so I am new at this....not just Master League but PES in general.

I just want to know what is the best team type (Default players, Exhibition mode players, custom team) when starting out? As MAster League is long affair I want to make the best choice at the start. So basically - What is the most popular Team type to start out with?

Any replies greatly appreciate.

Thanks

personally i like to start with my own custom team and start with Castolo and Minanda. its good because then you build your team as you get more points and you see it develop slowly and you will be happy with your outcome until there is a point where you have the likes of Drogba in your team as then it gets kind of boring having the best players and winning 8-0 all the time :/

I agree totally, so I think that making a custom team is better. So the next thing to do once custom team is selected, is to edit a team.

So do I go for a brand new start and select every player? Also I tried it quickly before going out and was changing players but my 5000 PES was not being affected. Does it subtract afterwards?

I personally prefer to play as a "small" real club, and build them up from there.

So you won't get bored of winning all the time, because on a hard difficulty, you won't do that.

well i made my custom team from scratch in my 7th season and i just got to the "s" rating. so i'm at the point where i just signed Gerrard and Drogba.

If I'm going to choose a real club, I like to choose one with a good variety of player types, ie, maybe one or two player really good players, some very young players who are worth developing, and some mediocre and/or old players who make solid sale/trade fodder. I enjoy trading players more than I do just buying them, frankly, so I tend to pick teams with big squads and get to swapping. I kind of annoy myself with the trading, though, because I like *playing* with smaller squads, and without keeping a good number of extras around, I get tempted to destabilize my team by treating them like baseball cards. :^|

I myself like creating my own team from scratch aswell. I edit it down to the last detail (make my own badge, add sponsers on kit etc.). Then just go from there. I never do the master league default players (I think it's that one) where you start off with a team like Aston Villa but all the players are random, utter s....

Hope I helped

So last night I started my first Master League. It went shocking. Played 5 games and lost all and what makes it worse is that it on regular difficulty. I am gonna need practise. Maybe I should start as an amateur and then the next season move up to regular and so on.

What do you think?

Also how many players do I need in my squad?

I am thinking of doing it again but this time (before game starts) I am gonna buy better players.

Master League can be very hard, even on 'friendly' difficulty levels. When friends have started playing PES and have asked how to get good, I've always say play a Master League for a few seasons! This was before the 'soft option' of starting with, say, the 'real' Arsenal. The default players really, really REALLY take some sorting, and you certainly become a better player by persevering with them. Also, how can you appreciate Fabregas, Drogba, et al if you haven't witnessed Minanda getting barged off the ball AGAIN or Ivanov pushing it into his own net?

A real challenge is to see you how far you can take them, because, as pointed out above, if you rush out and buy the best players, it can get boring pretty quick, in single player mode, anyway...

All my humble opinion of course.

Shall I get a taxi now?

I agree with inoit and bammers05, the default players make for a much more challenging and ultimately rewarding master league. But I also think that if you are just starting out, you could be forgiven for creating a custom team so that you can swap a couple of them and get in a couple of half decent players so that you may stand a chance and not get disillusioned quickly. As suggested above though, avoid the temptation to sign Kaka et al straight into this team, otherwise you'll have nothing to aim for. Choose a couple of ageing players, middle-of-the-road players or ones who may develop. It will give you a chance until you get used to it!

Okay so I started over and kept it on regular mode. It went well. Well in the the sense that I have drawn my first 4 games but unfortunately lost to a late goal to knock me out of the cup in my first game.

Your comments about Minanda and Ivanov are spot on.

Thanks

nice one. Regular is a start i guess. I started on top player with them. I won like 2 games drew 4 and lost the rest. I then signed players like mazure (who is still in my 1st team as he is a clinical striker even if his stats dont say it) and David Deagen. Trust me you will love it and you will be quite please and feel good when you win a game with these lot. makes you all warm inside. :p

I've also started my an original team, I don't select classic/hiden players and I chose the hardest level of difficulty and I choose the anti-reinit function. So I've never enjoyed playing a ML like this one... :d
