7 things I dont like about PES4

1. Far too easy!!

I've just beaten France 5:1 with Australia on 6/6 stars. There seems to be no increase in difficultly between the 4th and the 6th star.
Good players (like Zidane, Ronaldo, Henry) are not at all lethal enough in a one on one situation against the keeper,
the difficultly I encountered after switching from 3 to 4 stars is not to prevent the other team to score, but for me to score.
Also sudden direction changes and dribbling without hitting R1 (sprint) gets you passed any defender.

2. They abolished the headed goal

I know they didn't, but it seems like. It gets unrealistically hard to score from a cross, especially with a defender near you. No comparison with reality!

3. Too many penalties

I sometimes cought myself provoking a penalty by dribbling in the penalty box diagonally to the goal-line. In 8 out of 10 cases you get tackled and the ref awards a penalty.

4. The ref is a dumbstick

So many fouls are not actually fouls and v.v. He only sometimes seems to understand the advantage-rule, and his booking-policy is a joke.

5. Inheritance from PES3

Things like the stiff movement of the defenders, and that phenomenon that your own player sometimes walks a 3 m distance right over the touchline. Or that your players sometimes freeze when you want them to approach a pass in order to beat a defender to it.

6. Goalkeeper acts unrealistic

He seems to not have any kind of reaction-time. I hit the shootbar up to the stop 5 m in front of the goalkeeper and magically he gets a hand to it and deflects it for a corner. Unless of course the ball goes near any of the posts (goal- or touchline-side), then the keeper just ignores any shot, may it come from 1 or 50 meters.

7. Not really something I don't like, but something I wish for, might their be a PES5 (why woudln't):
More dribblings, increment of the height and power of the throughpass (it's more or less useless (so I think), because in 9/10 cases the defender gets the head to it), more volleys(!)

My main gripe to this point is the lack of effectiveness involved with the lob through pass. In WE7/PES3, with a skilled player, you could put it on the foot/in front of a streaking striker for a diving header. Now you have to be very deliberate with the aim, and half the time I still chip it to the goalie/towards the goal as opposed to towards my strikers line of pursuit.

That, and CPU controlled teammates are still about as dumb as a rock, but I expect that :)

I pretty much agree with most of the points
point 1 - agree, the stars dont really increase the difficulty from 4 to 6
point 2 - headers are less common, but i have scored enough to say that it happens, though less
point 3 - ya they computer is still dumb and they tackle way too much in the box giving away penalties
point 4 - the foul calls are quite bad sometimes, and they arent even close to being fouls. As for the advantage rule, i totally agree. Only sometimes does he let it play, and sometimes when he should he doesnt, so its not too accurate. Booking has always been stupid. They stil dont give straight red card for last man, and it should be because the computer takes me down all the time like that and no card is given.
point 5 - the freezing of the players is really annoying. You cannot take control of them i believe because they are in the middle of an animation and the game wont let you get them out of it, especially on balls that bounce into the air when players miss the headers, I never can do anything with my player, he gets stuck in the animation.
point 6 - agreed i guess, i just think they are still retarded. I had one that stood there without doing anything while it went right over his head into the goal, and he was on the goal line, it was quite annoying.
point 7 - while i agree, i think its done that way because if you could always get the ball over the defenders then it would just be ridiculous because you would have so many break aways, so its probably better this way.

I agree with the Keeper points (and most others)

Sometimes even an expensive keeper with great stats cant help but stand still and ball-watch as the ball trickles past him, whether it's over his head or towards a post.

I've actually had my keeper duck from a ball before to let it go into the net! Idiot

Definetely agree about the keepers being able to stop ridiculouly good shots. Thought id scored a great goal with del piero in the box on the volley against sampdoria. All of a sudden their keeper comes flying throught the air and saves it?!!!

And the refs.......... dont get me started on them. It seems like theirs one set of rules for the computers player and a diffrent set for ours.

Still a great game though, but pes5 has to have better refs and more realistic keepers

1. Completely agree, iv left the game for the last few weeks because of this.. i keep beating the best teams by 5-9 goals on 6 stars.. its really a joke.. theres no challenge in opening up defences..

2. Headed goals hasnt been a problem. It could happen more often.. for eg. the low cross gets you alot more goals than other crosses.

3. True.. this is another big problem.. a little trickery or acceleration in the box and you get a penalty.. it should be a challenge working openings and finding space to shoot inside the box.

4. Dont see much here.

5. Again small details.. not much of a bother.

6. I think the keeper on the long range efforts could be improved.. scoring from long range is far too easy.. and far too often the keeper just stands and watches.

7. One thing id like to add would be the reduction of speed.. the game sort of runs in hyper mode.. your never slowly pacing towards a defender with the ball at feet at the edge of the box with not much options on... having to work your way around the situation... everything is too direct, too rushed.. theres always space, matches are never tight..

BTW this is the best sports game around and one of my best overall but these are the limitations.

One more, Premiership liscenced kits and stadiums please.

WE7:LE has sorted the problem of the 'hyper-mode' , volleys are improved:D volleys are great in WE7:LE

Only things I want in the next WE/PES series is...

1.more tricks-for example you can only do like 3/4 tricks, wheeras when you watch a real game, players like Ronaldinho do loads of tricks.

2. Referees dont give free kicks for running behind a player!! as soon as you go behind a player-even if you dont press any buttons your player will bring the opposite player down and the ref gives a free kick!!

Does anyone remember on Actua Soccer they had a kind of speed & distance thingy-ma-jig on the replays? I think that would look cool instead of the rainbow thing.

Gun_Runner

100Gunz-100Clipz
Oh talking about replays....I hope theyre improved for the enxt series...as if you hit a shot and it goes wide, if you press start and try to get a replay you cant:S and also i hope they improve them for when you score-different angles etc.

Gun_Runner

100Gunz-100Clipz
ano , the angles are shit mate...hope they change those type of replays! I think in PES or PES2 you could get a great angle on replays after you hit a shot or whatever....it was like a 3rd person view from behind the ball.;)classic lol

No game is perfect right?
If they fix all of those points, im sure there will still be a lot to whine and moan about.
At the end of the day, If thats all you can whine about this game.....

Gun_Runner

100Gunz-100Clipz
Yes there probably will be...but you're the one who sed on another forum about if you dont strive for perfection then theres no point living;)

This game is so close to perfection that it can be said that its perfect.
Konami should strive for perfection of course, or else there's no point to continue the series.

Gun_Runner

100Gunz-100Clipz
I agree mate that the game is brilliant but if they tweeked those changes I mentioned I would be overjoyed- but Konami wont be reading this so my opinions wont really matter to them....If they continue improving this game I wonder what PES5 wil be like!!

Being able to have replays for absolutely anything would be great.

I know you can get most stuff, but i want to record some crunching career ending tackles. And why does it take up so much memory card space anyway

For those that think the game is too easy, has anyone built up a team to play against? IE, overwrite a shoddy national team and put all-99/all skills/positions created players on it.

Most of our co-op games are with our all-99 team versus an all-90 team. With 4 of us (generally one or two guys that aren't quite so good), it's a challenge on 3 or 4 stars.

Yea i agree with most of them points, The Keepers are crap, and you cant score from headers like you were able to on PES3, But still every game has it's faults even PES4 does  Lets just hope these faults are fixed for PES5. Oh and we all forgot the commentary.
