A Complete Lack of Skill...

In short, I suck at PES4. Sure I can beat the computer. But all my goals are short little tap-ins in the six-yard box. Every cross and corner kick I deliver sees a header over the bar or wide (for some reason I can never get the lads to do a volley of any type). I simply cannot figure out what the hell is going on. Is it all timing? Is there some sort of innate understanding of this game that American's simply do not have? I can't even figure out how to do a chip shot. Using a game controller with PS2 config...

I have the same problem with the headers.. Someone said you should try to move away from the goal when heading but no help so far.

Be imaginative when playing. Try adventerous shots when you get an opening. Play lots of 1-2s. As you play more you will learn how much power to put into shots and how hard to long pass etc. I used to find I couldn't score the spectacular shots I used to see. Earlier today I scored a 48m first time shot with Maradona whilst playing total football. :D

Give it time my friend - good things come to those who wait.

Try to keep hold of the ball and change your formation to suit your style of play.

For all we know, Jesus may have came back to earth. But anyone claiming to be him would probably had been sent to an insane asulym.

YankToon what teams do you play with and what formations?
Check out some of the formations posted by jMz in the Hints section and try using them - they may help you improve your game.

Also you should try to complete all the Challenge mode in Training.

Usually Inter Milan, 4-3-3 formation, lots of sweeping attacks from the wings. I've got some of the cool shots figured out (it honestly was just timing) but I'm still hitting a brick wall when it comes to volleys as opposed to headers. You just press the shoot button right? As the ball is coming in?

the crosses, corners are a matter of timing...picking your target...and some luck

i mean you can blindly cross the ball and hope for good things, you have to see someone making a run and try and hit them. same for corners, adjust power/etc for a person and pick them out.

bets advice is the practice/training modes

One last question and I'll cease to bother you all, do you use manual passes over the regular ones that the game picks for you?

grrrr...i hate it when people use certain formations to make then win, in my opinion people who do that show a complete lack of skill and thefore need a killer formation to win a game - i just stick to good ol 4-4-2 :)
