A Question - Quality of DVD-R

A question.
I used "Bulkpaq Orange 8x DVD-R" to burn a patched file (sunjun all kit final for WE8, I have followed the instruction of the patching process for this patch). I can play the game without any problem, but as you play more and more, the loading speed seems to become longer and longer. Hence I burnt the same patched file again, but I experienced the same slowness in the loading time with the newly burnt DVD.
I have chipped UK PS2 (messiah2) trying to play patched we8. Is the slowness in the loading time something you normally expect? or Is there a particular DVD-R you should/shouldn't use?

I burnt the DVD at 8x speed. I twice burnt the patch at 1x speed, but it never loaded up after PS2 logo. It is a bit stupid question, but if you have a 8x DVD-R, do you have to burn it with 8x speed or like many patching instruction suggest as you should burn it as slowly as possible, I should still burn it with the slowest speed even with a 8x DVD-R?

I am quite new to patching, so if someone can help me with this, I am grateful. I looked through the topics but could not spot the relevant section. If this is already talked somewhere else, please tell me where to look at. Cheers.

I burn at 2x and have never had any problems with loading slowdown or anything like that. Slowest is better according to most.

Thanks for the response, Zygalski.
Yeah, I thought slower the better for burning DVD, but burning at 1x, the game even loaded up.
How about the brand of the DVD-R? Which DVD-R brand do you use? or does it make difference if I use DVD-RW?
Is there any possiblity that the chipped messaiah2 is not functioning properly as I experienced some slowness, loading and freezing problems when I play other DVD-R games? I can play the genuin games (CD, DVD), and can watch DVD movies (region free, or other region DVD with dvd region free kit).
Many Thanks

I have changed from TDK x4 DVD-R to Ritek G04's and the difference is quite noticable. If I burn as x2 my PS2 cannot read the disc at all so I find that I have to burn my PS2 games at x4. I burn all films at x2 and I have never had any porblems even though my PS2 is very old and the laser is a bit tempermental! Good luck!

Yeah Ritek G04 disks appear to be the most compitable disks for PS2's. You might want to clean your lasor if your having problems with other games. Some bad burns have slow loading times, check that you are running no other programs whilst burning ie firewalls, anti virus, disconnect your modem if you have Broadband, and ensure that your c; is'nt too defragmented.

Mmm i had the same problem as you eddie.. I burned my DVD-R with 4x speed but still i had long loading times... I used the same brand DVD-R again only i burned at 1x now! And I think that is really the mayor factor not to have long loading times!

Cheers

Thanks guys.
I think I will try to burn it with Ritek G04 DVD-R disks.

Regarding the cleaning PS2 lasor lense, do you think the lense was a part of the problem while I can play genuin PS1, PS2 games (CD, DVD) and CD-R games, and can watch DVD movies (region free, or other region DVD with dvd region free kit)?
