A Reasonable and Mature Suggestion to Konami

Let me start of by saying how much I have enjoyed playing PES in these past weeks, in particular BAL mode which is my personal favourite addition to the game. Though as a extremely very passionate football fan, and therefore someone who takes their football games very seriously, PES still has drawbacks. Yes I do understand that all games have drawbacks and always will. However PES 2011's are very easily fixed! PES has so much potential and could so easily be the best selling Football game, if they really put there minds to it. With the Champions League and Europa LEague licenses, PES good so easily out sell Fifa, but in my mind they are being lazy. So If I may present to you some ideas that have been running through my mind for the past weeks, on what PES 2012 could and should bring.

First of all I would like to run through the things to why PES is such a good game in my mind and to How they could develop it.
1) Jim Beglin - A great addition to the game, and really gives the Champions League part of the game a big boost. However I think they should really improve the commentary. If you play the game and listen, the commentators barely say a word. (Yes, I have got my commentary frequency on Standard.) They should really improve this and make them say a lot more. Also I would like to propose the dismissal of Jon Champion. I feel he is a very boring commentator, and if you watch modern games, you never hear Jon Champion nowadays. Though you may not think it, this is a drawback. Having someone like Peter Drury or Clive Tysldesly (Who actually do Champions League Matches in real life) instead, would be great. As the Champions League part of the game is one of it's main sellers.

2) The European 'Oura' of Football - When you play PES 2011 you seem to get the sense of European football or Champions League Football. Which is brilliant and is defiantly a great factor. Unlike Fifa, that seems like a English Premier League match. This is mainly due to the new camera angle which works great! So to improve upon this aspect of the game, they could maybe introduce another angle for English Matches. Similar to the camera "Broadcast' from Fifa. Not nesarsarley needed, but could be a nice addition. Anyway, it is a great factor of the game and when you play PES 2011 it looks like your watching 'Live Spanish Football' on Sky Sports 2. Which is great!

3) Designed For Freedom - Just great, Truly great. Well Done Konami.

Now I would like to mention things that would be brilliant to Add.
1) Better Player Dynamics- More Lifelike players runs! Play a game of Fifa or PES then watch some real football. The main difference is how the players are constantly moving around, looking for space. This is vital and before Konami can do this, PES will always be second best to Fifa. Also introduce the walking animation. This would help to create a sense of realism. Again watch a real game of football, and when the ball is on the left hand side, players on the right hand side are walking. Fifa have done this, and it works great.

2) More Lifelike Attacks and Defending - If you select Watch Match under the Champions League menu. Just watch the movement of all the players. Defending and Attacking. It's very poor. Fifa's isn't great but compare it to PES and it's great. If they can really work on this part of the game, we will see a much better end product.

3) Better Atmosphere and Crowd - When you play PES I tend to forget that the crowd are even there, all I can here is the ball being struck and the extremely rare commentary being said. It is very poor, and when you score, the crowed hardly change! A slight increase in volume, probably only 1%.

4) Finesse Option - I understand that if you hold R2 or RT you can do a 'controlled shot' but it still isn't very good. If I want to bend a shot from the edge of the area. You can't do so, unless you get lucky. You can only really hit the ball straight with a hint of swerve. I would like the option to what Fifa offer, the Finesse shot.

5) Better Net - I know a very pity part to pick on, but it is very crap! the ball just sinks into it. The ball should bounce of a bit!

Here is a link of Messi against Arsenal, which better explains what I'm talking about. Look for all the points I have explained the previous Sub-heading. The Dynamics of the people, the movement of Attacking and Defending (All though poor, the desperation is there that isn't in PES.), The Atmosphere and the noise when Messi scores, How he can whip the ball, (ie Finesse it.) and the Net, the ball does bounce of a bit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySo0L0bNRvw

Finally what Konami should sort out!
1) The Non Licensed Teams Kit - They actually offend me, to think that Konami couldn't be bothered to even create kit that look similar to the teams kit. For most of the non licensed spanish teams they don't even have the same colours!
2) Stupid Own Goals - Need I say no more.
3) The Set Piece System - It isn't user friendly at all and I haven't scored a penalty yet, and haven't curved a ball once! Sort it out big time.
4) The Goal Kicks - Another pity thing to pick on, but again is a bit stupid. The Goalie will seem to absolutely sky the ball and it takes ages to come down! Make them a bit more flatter please…

So they are my thoughts that I would like to share with you all. I know, it is still early doors, but it gives Konami time to work on these things (If they choice to take it board.). PES 2011is a great game and leaves Konami in a great position to improve it, as it is a great foundation to build upon.

Thank you

the set pieces are fine, just practice

I would disagree, when you have a shot on the edge of the area, you have to press 'Square' and hold the left analoge stick down. It looks horrible when he shots, like he lobbing the ball or scooping it.

I would really like Konami to bring back challenge training! Another feature I really enjoyed in previous versions of the game, also improved you as a player. Your points are very good, I hope Konami read them because you are right, PES could easily out-sell Fifa if they put a little more effort in.

I like your post, the only thing I disagree on is the camera angles, but then by that I only think the option should be there. I still love the default cameras from PES5, but I fully understand why some people like the new ones.

Some points that I think they also need to consider, as you said player movement needs to be much more realistic, I'm getting sick of forwards not making runs or even falling behind the player with the ball. Either that or make it so it's more lifelike to outsprint a defender whilst on the ball.

Another one, and I've been thinking this for years, is different pitch sizes. Every pitch on the game is huge, and I remember the pitch at Highbury was tiny, so teams had to be brilliant at finding space, changed the entire way you looked at a game. If they introduce this, and fix the player runs, they could really have the edge over FIFA.

I know this because the last 3 PES' I've really disliked, but I've gave PES11 a much better chance and I'm loving it despite it's flaws, the core gameplay is still there (or is trying to break out, at least)
