it's all about the player stats, R2 only makes the player more balanced and makes him connect the shot better way.. NO aftertouch in open play..

the senisble post in this thread

Its immaginations and myth ..people have been saying this sh*t since pro 1 to pro 4 ...touch R1 blah blah blah.. noo it doesn't its all about the players, technique, shooting stats and stuff.. Take any shot with recoba without pressing R1 and you'll see about curl..the ppl who claim this R1 stuff jus hold it down as they believe it work when it reality it would have done this without R1 myth

tho in free kicks holding down n a direction is a good curl technique

Ok the only way you can influence curl is with specified players i.e Thierry Henry.

If your running parallel to the goal on the edge of the box with (henry)
hold :L1: and shoot this does Henry's trademark curl shot.

Don't attempt this facing the keeper as it will just result in a lobshot.

This is the ONLY way of influencing curl during open play.

This shot is specific to certain players. it's not curl. Standing on your head with your finger up your arse is just as effective as all the combos listed here to get curl. Curl is stats based not player controlled, read the guide.

Thanks as i was getting a little worried as i could never do it
so whoever said there was aftertouch should be shot.

Contrary to what others say, there is aftertouch. However it is very slight and need to be done split-second after kicking.

This slight curl is then determined by your players curling stat.

When using R2 'controlled shot' the aftertouch 'curl' is more noticable.

Use practice mode, come in from the edges of the box at an angle where you know if you kick straight the ball will go out. Now aim straight or slightly away from goal. The moment the ball is kicked immediately use d-pad stick to add the curl. YOu know it works when you can put a goal bound shot out.

BTW, check your power more power=less curl.

Cheers

The thought of aftertouch to me makes no sense.

If there was some way of controlling the curl before the ball has been shot I would maybe believe it.

But as we can all see in PES5, the curl on the ball is always determined by how the foot strikes the ball. I don't see how we could alter the curl of the ball after it has been struck. On a replay, that would look pretty silly, the ball just altering curl slightly shortly after it has been struck. just seems unrealistic to me.

The reason the curl is more in controll shots is because those are taken with less power and often with the side of the foot, which does make curling alot more easy than when taking shots with the topside of the foot.

However, cool move with Henry. I didn't know of that one. Wish I had the guidebook for those sorts of things. :)
