It makes the striker drop off to help the creative process, like Bergkamp, Rooney, Henry, Cantona and so on.

It's also useful to drag defenders away for OMF's to run in. Or for a powerful striker to head the ball into his midfield from a long kick.

Depends on how and with whom you use it.

As far as my new formations go, my fave is...... How could I choose? I like a variation of a 3-5-2, with the option for 3-4-3 and 3-3-4. But it generally breaks down like this, first team in my 2013 ML.

GK Schmeichel

Baresi - Rijkaard - Vandenborre

Beckenbauer

Macmanaman - Cantona - Nedved - Giggs

Fowler - jMz/Stoichkov

(Some) Subs
4 of my mates (for playing against them).
Pagliuca
Di Canio
Zola
Ronaldo
Pele
Cruyff

Fuck me I can't remember.....
I'll do a proper picture soon, and I'm sad enough to compile a databse on my team!! Or I could just get a max drive and start uploading the formations and teams and options files and stuff. Watch this space.

I'll cut you some slack cos you're a noob, ......... no anyway, I won't.
Are you winding me up? Have you read any of this thread?
How many times do I have to say no and explain why?
If you had read the thread you'd know why, if you haven't, then how do you know I haven't posted it already?

Its gonna be interesting to see how all these formations work in PES5/WE9

With the 2 new positions were gonna be able to really refine how we want our formations to look.

I am fairly new to Pro Ev 4 and have only reached 4 stars.

I still play with the default Arsenal 4-4-2 formation and am struggling to score but concede very few goals. Is the 4-4-2 formation not that effective then

JmZ i have been using your 2-6-2 formation and my mate keeps stuffing me! he said that he wants a challenge! what should he set his team strategy to so that your 2-6-2 will become more effective? e.g: zone press, line defence, counter attack etc? I think at the minute his team strategy is A A C A!

Alreet.
Badmofo, yes mate the 4-4-2 will always do you proud. I use it very regularly. You've got flat, with wingers, defensive, moving, holding player, all attack, whatever. It is probably the most reliable formation you could pick. I only reccomend wacky styles when you know why you are putting certain players there.

Any way, I'm getting carried away. Just wiped a virus off and got the computer working again.
See you soon.

any good advanced formations for WE9?
Sorry mate, like I said before, I don't have, and don't plan on getting WE9. So no formations for it. The bulk of all the info you could possibly need is in this thread, there are limitless combinations of things you could do with a formation, and why you would do it, and with which players, so start swotting up, and get practising !!
Why don't you try posting some of your own formations instead of asking for them all the time?
That is what the thread is for after all.

(How many times do I have to keep saying this? Maybe a short ban would make it sink in? Mods?)

Pro P.I.M.P, you are really beating a dead horse now!

I think it is very early to ask for creative formation in WE9. As almost everything looks different in WE9, everybody should be focusing on learning the basic skills first, moves, and the teamplay.

There are quite good formations in WE9. With the 2 new positions WG ans ST, you can have huge variations. I find the ST position as very useful. He supports the center forward, and plays as an agressive OMF.

As jMz mentioned, use the basics mentioned in this thread and experiment your own. I am currently using 4*3*3 formation, with one DMF, 2 OMF, 1 ST and 2 CF. And when I am leading, I switch to 1 DMf, 1 CMF, 1 OMF, 2 ST, and 1 CF. It is basically the same but helps me have a smooth sailing when needed. It works amazingly good so far. I will try to post that in details later.

I tried different formation with 3 at the back, but I think with We9 it leaves a huge space uncovered in you sides, plus I find side backs and WGs participate more effectively in offense in WE9.

Counter the 4-1-2-3??? Anyone please...

Hi all. My friend and I have had some seesaw battles and we both really seem to have great success with the 4-1-2-3 formation however I was wondering if anyone has played against this formation and found perhaps a better formation or tactic to beat it?

I used to play 4 1 2 3 a lot in WE8. In WE9, Mid Feild and sidebacks players participate more actively in offense. I noticed that when you put too many players in the front they get marked heavily by opponent's players in WE9 (especially if you play against CPU).
I tried 4*3*3, with 3 CMF in the Mid feild, 2 WF and 1 CF. The three in the Mid feild forms a traingle pointing towards my opponent's goal. I noticed I have more control over the Mid feild, and when I wait long enough, the 3 CMF participate heavily in offfense.

4-1-2-3

Lucky you...I live in the USA and we wont have WE9 until Feb 2006----aaargh...but thanks for the 4-3-3 suggestion. But are you saying its more effective vs the the 4-1-2-3 in WE8 as well? Last night I tried emulating Chelesea's default 4-5-1 and used it with Real Madrid with Great Success...have you tried the 4-5-1 and what are your thoughts?
(again this is on WE8i) Thanks again Observer.
