Hi, after being a FIFA player for many years (since 2012) I decided to go back to PES on this 2016 edition, and I simply can't defend, strange thing I also score many goals I mean most of my games end up with results like 5-4, 4-2, 8-7 etc. Are there any tips for stopping this I just don't get it why is this happening. Thanks

Ali

It is happening again
Try not to rush into tackles..... that's probably the best advice I can give.

What match duration are you using? I get too many goals above 10 minutes. Also, play in -1 speed.

For defending:

  • Don't rush the ball. Instead move as many players behind the ball as you can and try to block lines of passing, get in the way of the attacker. Avoid running too much when defending.
  • Learn to slide tackle efficiently (angle and timing), that's vital this year.
  • Don't press the 'team mate pressure' button unless you are in the way of the attacker or his likely line of passing to double up when they fail.
  • Keep team spirit high in ML, also vital, otherwise scripting will get you.
  • Have a fluid formation where your midfielders and attackers fall back when out of possession.
  • Use a defensive line of about 4 to start with (not too deep which invites pressure, not too high which invites through-ball spamming).
  • If you're playing against an opponent with LWF and RWF, use a wide defence and push them to the centre. Otherwise use a narrower defence and push the attackers to the sidelines.
  • Try 'Maintain position' instead of 'Flexible' (may hurt your attack), try 'All-out defence' instead of 'Frontline pressure' (same). Use 'Conservative' pressure.
  • Mark the LWF and RWF with your LB and RB, mark the CF and SS with your CB, mark any AMF with a DMF. Against one striker only, keep one CB free of marking anyone, so he doesn't get dragged out of position by an opponent. Don't mark any other players as that will take your defenders too high. Don't use any other of your players to mark as that will kill your attack.
  • Defend with many, attack with medium, change to many if you can't score. Against stronger teams attack with few to start with.
  • Use something like 4-2-3-1 against stronger teams for a strong populated midfield.

That's what I do. Works pretty well for me. If you reduce the goals you take but are still scoring too many, use manual shooting to reduce your numbers. It makes scoring from afar or under pressure harder and it also makes scoring much more fun when you actually do it, and you get different kinds of goals from when playing with basic.

11 black balls don't work, play with select automatically team spirit and play with a level 4 team, not level 5, add 3-4 white balls to your bench, watch the defenders cut out all the unforced errors.
