Cool, Iv'e noted your opinions, lets see what happens, Im not sure 12 months is enough to revolutionize a game from scratch. I have no doubts Pes 2010 will be an improvement, but how much over the competition im not sure.

Preperations have been in place for Pes for some time apprently. Maybe a year and half to 2 years.

In 12 months time it is impossible, but I have the suspicion that Konami has been working on PES 2010 for almost 2 years now -or- since they started developing PES09. This is why I think PES 2010 could be a surprise...

But other than that, I will try the demo -and- if it's the same old BS then I think I'm giving FIFA 2010 a try. But I hope Konami turns it around because I really find FIFA's Controls a bit uncomfortable and too complex.

I don't have a problem with having a few Advanced Tricks arranged to the Right Stick. But I don't like that most if not all of the tricks are via the Right Stick.

I think EA Sports should consider using Controls like the intuitive "Fake Shot" Dribble. Maybe also include a few new ones, maybe by double tapping the (o) button + giving it a direction -the- player does different tricks depending on the position of the pitch and on the position of the player.

I'm actually going to borrow FIFA09 again, to give it a further try. I've been comparing PES5 with PES6 with PES09... now I'm thinking FIFA09 will give me a better idea of what the "next gen" PES is lacking.

The 2 things that bother me most in fifa09 is that its almost impossible to do a proper fake shot and the response times make me wanna put my boot through the frikin TV screen. I press it and they take a completely unnecessary extra touch. Great game though. Ive had it almost 5 months and still play it alot online.

Absolutely cant wait to see what they give Liverpool in the ratings. In the past they have been amazingly underated. This year imo they should be the best/second best team on the game.

I agree with you on that. The responsivness is not that good.

I reckon Konami would want to have a demo out way early this year coz they have really messed up over the last 2 years loosing customers to FIFA.

No more excuses Konami. Get it right this time, of forget about soccer games and just give up!!

Konami, now almost as bad as Gazza and Steve Davis. Once legendary!! :)

How the hell did you come to that conclusion?

They always make Liverpool really Poor. Skrtle has about 2 stats in the yellows and his rest are plain. Same issue with every player on the entire team.

I would like to mention i played pes 2009 last night for the first time in 5 months and it was fucking horrific. The graphics were amazingly bad, the annimation......dont go there man, the player models, the shooting. Omfg i couldnt get over how the frikin hell i used to play that. Its soooo bad its amazing i bought it after playing the demo. Pes 2008 beats it hands down in my book. It was weirdly slow aswell. Like i had Babel and icant express how shit he runs and how fast he runs. It was worse than any other pes ever. Fifa 09 is like on another sloar system to pes 2009.

It just worries me that 2010 wont be as good as im imagining. I know they've been working on it for a while but Pes 2009 was so bad idont see how they can improve as much as they need to.

This is the same Konami who where saying PES 2008 was gonna be the game that took PES to the next level.

That's why im skeptical.

But we Shall see, another thing is, there has been little official news in FIFA 10 at all, isn't fifa normally 1st at this kind of thing because the game comes out 1st? Isn't PES usually last to show its cards?

You know, for me it has reached the point where -if- I saw slightly similar movements and animations, I'm not buying the game. So for me it's pretty straightforward: if it's good I will buy it, if it's the same arcade game as the last two years I'm definitely NOT buying it.

If Konami doesn't get it right this year I'm buying FIFA 2010 -or- maybe I will not buy any Football Sims.

That's exactly WHY I get the feeling that Konami must've been working on a side-project for some years. Maybe they've been working on a New Engine for almost two years. Of course this is all speculation, but it could well be true.

I mean, how do you explain that Konami released news on PES 2010 so early?? And the press release was notably ambitious, more ambitious than any other I can remember, it shows a lot of confidence from Konami.

And considering that Konami are well aware of just how pissed many of their fans/customers are with the arcade-like animations and movements... considering this -and- reading the press release.

My guess is that Konami have done something right and they are excited about whatever it is they did right, maybe they finished fixing the "current" engine -or- maybe they finished a New Engine. Whatever it is, it seems like Konami has accomplished massive improvements.

To this we can add that Konami haves 200 more people on board... we should expect more of a revolution.

But other than that, I will just play the demo and if I don't like what I see I won't be buying the "Finished" game. I already did that with PES09 and I'm not giving more charity to Konami.

"there is a noticeable change in pace when a player passes a ball from a standing position than from within a run"

This one scares me!

Basically, when passing a ball the ball will be hit harder when when running than hit from a standing position. It makes sense really.

Konami:

"In terms of attacking, players can also now move several players once, sending them into different areas, opening up more goal-scoring possibilities than ever before. As such, PES 2010 necessitates a new level of control from the player."

"Strategic thinking is as important as quick passing, but the new system greatly opens the way the player oversees control of the team."

"In free kick scenarios, for instance, players can now instigate the runs of the players awaiting the ball in the penalty area."

"Intuitive zonal defending will cover spaces and players need to look constantly for new ways to attack. PES 2010 focuses on being a real football simulation, as it requires both strategic play and quick reactions, as in real life."

"Similarly, if a player is known to be good with close control, defenders will work to cover their stronger side..."
----------------------------------------------------------

That's the bit of Info that haves me slightly hopeful... it could change the way we play the game.

But I'm also concerned about this because Konami tends to treat the Defensive Game like a mere casualty... I hope "Strategic Thinking" is also necessary when DEFENDING.

We had all this Mallarcky with Teamvision in 2008 or w/e and i cant remember anyone saying it actually worked or they noticed it. So when they big it up now it doesnt exactly fill me with hope. I just want the Ps2 gameplay back and ill be happy for a year.

Fifa for me has always been an arcade game as i never get the feeling they have taken it seriously.... for example CL games played at midday and other silly little errors that overall piss you off on a big level.... i do play fifa 09 but only online against my mates from work/old school mates and we play red card soccer and shoot from halfway line matches because of the lazy attitude around the game...

pes has always been impressive even tho it feels like they have taken several steps backwards....it does need massive improvement how ever to make it capitalise on EA's fuck ups

I totally agree. It's probably wishful thinking, but it does explain a lot. I mean, can PES 2008 and 2009 call itself a next generation video game. I much preferred my winning eleven games on the PS2 than to the Pro Evolution games on the PS3.

Thanks to that fuckwit Seabass and his gang of idiots I've not really played a football game properly for years, to be exact I stopped playing PES6 just after PES2009 was released in disgust.

We all heard and believed the empty promises and lies before so lets not get too hyped up about it as much as I'd like to so I'll wait to play the demo for myself before I believe anything.

Yeah I'm with you on this. I remain hopeful, but not expecting a result like I have been tricked into for the past 2-3 years.

On the other hand, they do appear to be backing up their usual bullshit pretty well this year.
