Hi! i play online on the ps3 alot but im struggling to get past the 600 mark. I keep changing teams and it seems i do well for a bit then go on a losing streak and then it all repeats again! I have had the most success with Inter Milan but i also like playing with Chelsea, England, Barcelona and Brazil. I was just wondering if anyone has any formation tips or gameplay tactics for online?

Thanks Alot :)

Try to finish as many oportunities you can, to score a goal in any chance,
and something for your defensive ability: Do not let players like C.Ronaldo makes you fill uncomfortable, call the nearest teamate pressing square to help and the only u have to do is to follow them both holding together r1 n r2 waiting for tha moment to win the battle after yours teamate failing

a lot of online players struggle against the counter attack strategy...if u have quick players on the wings, try getting the ball back to them as quick as possible. ive found a lot of players run with their defenders and try scoring a goal with them. catch em on the counter. keep possesion cos that normally frustrates other players and forces errors.

Keep possession and work the ball around, a lot of people you play against will just be barca/brazil/inter cheat team cretins. Really work on your finishing because if you miss two or three good opportunities then you tend to get punished.

If you have someone like kaka/ronaldo/messi running at you just back off and try to channel them into areas they don't want to be in. Always be aware of the cut backs and try to position a man in between the wide attacker and opposition players entering the box, number of people that run down the wing then blindly pass across the box is frightening.

What's even more frightening is the efficiency of that tactic :( Bleeding Konami.

Tbh I don't really care about the result anymore number of close games i've lost to a barca muppet, i'm happy these days if ive kept good possession and played good football :)

Sounds good so far. Possession is important [although tonight I got a 70/30 split in my favour and still lost 1-0]. So is taking chances. But is that really news?

If you want to win, play wingers and use long passes to find them. And be Barca [or any of the teams the OP mentioned].

If you want to enjoy yourself, be whoever the hell you like and play a way you enjoy. There's always someone out there worse than you....

Dude, that has got to be the best attitude i've heard about online play! Credit where due.

I haven't been online with PES for a while. I had a good connection but found ranked matches to be full of sulking jerks. I ended up spending my time in the unranked, playing friendlies as the games tended to be more fun, with people using all different kinds of teams.

I wan't to play the game with some fluid passing, a few cheeky step-overs and win or lose, to have enjoyed the experience.

Unfortunately, on-line all i ever seemed to come up against in ranked matches was long ball up the wing to fast winger, then run, run, run.

PES2008 defence is crap & easy to exploit on PS3. Makes for boring one dimensional games.

At least in unranked you might get to play someone using, say, Borough, or as i did, Bolton...
