any UK problems with PSN

Playstation Network has been horrible from Sunday through Wednesday night in the U.S. Not sure if it is linked to the recent hacking. I never realized that going online with PES required the PSN. I cannot get through at all - I constantly get logged off and no auto login when I turn my PS3 on. Seems to be rampant but I am hearing about UK players playing FIFA with no problems and not much complaining about PSN for PES on this site. BTW, can't get to EA servers as well in the U.S.

what's the general report out there?

Lust update of PS blog:

As you are no doubt aware, the current emergency outage is continuing this afternoon and all Sony Online Network services remain unavailable. Our support teams are investigating the cause of the problem, including the possibility of targeted behaviour by an outside party. If the reported Network problems are indeed caused by such acts, we would like to once again thank our customers who have borne the brunt of the attack through interrupted service.'
Additional information:
'Our engineers are continuing to work to restore and maintain the services, and we appreciate our customers' continued support.'

I would think it's those fucking Anonymous people. What a bunch of complete tools. They have a little beef with Sony, so decide to ruin it for the rest of us. Fucking arseholes! :realmad:

OOH look, they can hack stuff. They must be sooooooooo cool. I bet they get all the girls! ;)

Eh, it was bound to happen really. Sony think they have carte blanche to fuck about with their customers and it was always going to come round to bite them in the arse.

You better be careful Ali, they might hack you for mocking them. They seem very sensitive. Image below is of one of their freedom fighter wannabees at a weekend limp-dicked protest. I think he is watching a sony TV - and is that a PS3 controller in his hand? Pan down I want to see some controller.

These hackers think they're proving a point, when in fact they're just whiney little bitches. They're gonna get in so much shit, and for what?

I've been trying to release my first LBP level. I feel like things are conspiring against me. Yesterday my internet was REALLY shit in the evening, so I left it for a while, came back and found my level had randomly mucked itself up. So I fixed the problem with the intention of releasing it today.... but lo and fucking behold!! :faceplm:

I can understand why they are doing it but I don't really agree with it. Sony tried to fuck over GeoHot (the guy who hacked the PS3) and in the process they pretty much revoked any rights that their customers had over the equipment. I think their stance now is that every single PS3 is only rented and we don't have permission to tamper with it...

You can't piss off the technically savvy and not expect some shit to be thrown your way. It would have been much wiser for Sony to go after the Amish.

I don't understand the hackers at all. I'm definitely not gonna sympathise with them. Oh no! Sony disabled the abilty to us an other OS. Big fucking whoop! It's a fucking games console! The fact that the hackers have pissed off sooooooo many people must say something to them! They seem to think they're the voice of the people!!

It's not that, it's this

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony_Computer_Entertainment_America_v._George_Hotz

Sony sued the guy who hacked the PS3. But instead of just going for him, they also got PayPal to give them the details of everyone that has ever donated to him. Similarly they also went after (and got) the IP addresses of everyone who has visited his website.

The OS thing is a non-issue really, as far as I know it's about Sony acting shady as fuck.

Reminds me of when the BBC tried to get SKY to release their customer database to cross reference against non paying license holders. SKY told them to fuck off.

I think Sony has some cheek pursuing people who donated to someone who hacked a PS3. Unless piracy was involved Sony are walking a thin fucking line. I don't agree with hackers taking down PSN but Sony seemed to have been asking for this judging by the back story. Daft cunts.

I don't think they are pursuing people who simply visited gehotz websites or donated money per se. They are simply gathering as much evidence as possible. Its about knowing who your enemies are. Something I think a good company would do after they have been hacked the way they were. After all it is a criminal action imposed on them. Heck, Anonymous or counterparts have been posting personal info from hacked information on Sony employees including the where abouts of their children. Can't agree with those moves. So Anon trying to take down an entertainment company while there are life and death issues to worry about in this world.

as later edit: I had my credit card stolen and used by paypal. I had the paypal records subpeonaed to know who the fool was.

Supposedly Sony is changing their tune now and removing language about outside sources being possilby responsible for recent service interruptions. Probably just PR move. Imagine investors looking at a company who can simply be hacked like that with no recourse.

I think I get bothered by company PR than most because bad PR systematically reflects a weakness in their customer relations - Sony's statement on their website is indication of how bad their PR and maybe their company actually is;

We’re aware certain functions of PlayStation Network are down. It may be a full day or two before we’re able to get the service completely back up and running. Please stay tuned to this space for more details, and we’ll update you again as soon as we can.

No apologies - rather they start with we're aware there is a problem..... - in other words quit sending us emails.
