Assassins Creed III (American Revolution) [PC/PS3/360]

Ubisoft will release the next chapter in the Assassin's Creed saga on October 30, 2012, less than a year after the previous entry, Assassin's Creed: Revelations, shipped on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. While details on Assassin's Creed III are scant, Ubisoft says the sequel will be "the biggest launch" in the publisher's history.

Beyond that, we don't know much about the content of Assassin's Creed III. We know it will feature an all-new protagonist, with Ezio Auditore da Firenze taking a much needed break. We know that Ubisoft has been working on the game for three years. And we've heard — though not from Ubisoft directly — that the American Revolution may serve as the historical backdrop for the game.

Ubisoft is smart to get the game out a bit earlier than it normally does, beating the November juggernaut that is Call of Duty to market by a few weeks.

It's encouraging to know the've been working on it for a few years (or so the article claims). Hopefully they can inject a lot of new ideas, because the series is becoming stale.

Apprently there was a poll which Ubisoft sent out to forum members and the top choice was Victorian England.

American Revolution perhaps makes the most sense given that they work in the Templars through the Freemasons and whatnot. Large urban areas would be lacking though.

Looks like it might be set during the American Colonial Period.

Is This the Star of Assassin’s Creed III?

Well, this is interesting. A Best Buy worker just emailed us two images snapped from their employee news section. One shows that Ubisoft will be unveiling Assassin's Creed III on March 5, and that there'll be pre-order bonuses to be had. Whatever.

The other is a shot of what they say is the game's promotional art. Featuring what may well be Assassin's Creed III's star.

If this is legitimate, and remember, this is completely unconfirmed, it appears that the chatter placing the third game in the series in the American Revolution is spot-on. In the background is the original Continental flag, the Assassin is wearing an 18th-century military jacket and from his weaponry, jewellery and resemblance to actor Wes Studi he appears to be Native American. Or, since you'd expect he's still part of hero Desmond's bloodline, half-Native American. Especially when you consider that our source tells us that, out of shot, the Assassin is also carrying a tomahawk.

A lot of fighting in the forest and freerunning through treetops I assume.

So no doubt we'll be the helping the glorious American republic triumph against us foul-breathed Englishmen, right? Well, probably not, as Assassin's Creed lore has already branded the Founding Fathers as evil Templars.

We already know that American revolutionary leader George Washington managed to secure one of the legendary Apples of Eden, devices which can control people's minds. He used this to keep order while president and then passed it down to his successors.

Failed attempt to assassinate George Washington incoming?? I could never really get in to AC before, but I like this period, so maybe I will bite.

Still wearing that ridiculous assassin gear I see. You'd think, after all these centuries, the assassins would have found a better way to blend in.

I see the mistake, colonial period not the civil war. Apparently something is being announced on the AC facebook page today!

And full image of the promo poster.

I appreciate he's a shady sort who needs to keep his identity secret but the hood indeed looks stupid now.

A truly disgusting cover to which I take great offence. I won't be buying such filth and I encourage any true Englishman to do likewise.

Why not show some balls and make a game where we get to put down the Colonial scum?

Stupid hood on him as well fashioned to an officers jacket. What a repulsive game. History for Emo's imo. I only hope he gets scalped and hacked to death by Huron's.

Same shit will happen. You'll be chummy with the Native Americans and assist the 'heroic' colonies against the evil British. No doubt French the will turn up at Yorktown. All friends together against the bastard Brits.

If I was in command in 1776-1783 or the War of 1812 for that matter they wouldn't have been such mistakes and they would still be under out tit now.

The picture with George Washington does pose the question, will the main enemy be the British Empire?

Mate of course that will happen but there is two things they won't cover in any detail:

1/ Native American question

2/ Slavery

The second point isn't that relevant but you watch for the first part. It will be us slaughtering the Tribes and the Colonials coming off smelling of Roses just to appeal to the American market. Sickening beyond words

If anyone cares to have read the excerpt I posted earlier from eurogamer, the canon has already been established that George Washington is part of an organisation that opposes the Assassins.

Assassin's Creed lore has already branded the Founding Fathers as evil Templars.

The image with Washington was something made for/by Game Informer to tease their unveiling. I envfisage there'll be a lot of fighting against colonials, british and others. This image to me looks like washington and the assassin facing off against each other
