at the end of Goodliff's 6th season, and the 5th with cagliari (his heart is rossoblu) he found himself called up for national duty at the world cup... the player was astounded. the press had a field day and questioned the managers squad selection but Goodliff would soon prove the sceptics wrong coming on at nil nil in the opening group game against croatia to grab the opener and set up the clincher. a shaky 2nd game with Goodliff on the bench for 90 minutes resulted in a shock 2-1 defeat to South Africa but he was soon recalled for the deciding group game against the columbians. After going a goal down early on gerrard levelled matters with a penalty and goodliff burst through on to beckhams though ball to round the keeper and send england into the knock out stages....
a tired squad scraped through on penalties against a strong chile side but the french were sweapt aside as goodliff got the first 90 minutes of his career to date scoring the 2nd in a 2-0 victory...
next up were the mighty italians who went infront early on with a free kick from the tournaments top scorer and crafty veteran del piero but england fought hard and goodliff sent in an inch perfect cross for owen to meet on the half volley. then.... disaster struck. a loose ball looked 50/50 but goodliff slid in only to catch the pacey pirlo. he went down... the ref came over and goodliff recieved his second yellow card of the tournament. he could have given up, he could have lost hope... but what followed was truly inspirational. with 88 minutes on the clock goodliff recieved a pass from ashley cole in to feet. he turned, sidestepped the flagging nesta and lashed the ball low across buffon and into the far corner to spark wild celebrations and emotional congratulations from his team mates....
sitting on the bench and having to watch the final was the worst moment in pro evo for me ever.................... BUT WE FCUKIN DONE THE SPANISH 2-1!!!!!!!!!! ENG-GER-LAAAAAAAAAAAAAND ENG-GER-LAAAAAAAAAAAAND ENG-GER-LAAAAAAAAAAND
