BAL MODE - How to get good ratings - idea's thread

I think dribbling distance is very effective on rating. But not the only one. Playing by aggressive means does the trick. Dribbling with ball, creating chances with passes and crosses, taking a lot of shots. They are all important.

First ss from BaL mode and second one is from master league with fixed setting. Both of them are on regular difficulty. Most of the passes (in both examples) were through passes in front of the goal.

8.0 rating:

8.5 rating:

I think the important thing is involving game by aggressive means.

NOTE: Master league team is an edit team. Stats are between 80's and 90's.

Ever since I started dribbling and using the fake shot plus diagonal movement more, I've been getting 8.0 ratings more frequently. I have yet to get an 8.5 rating though.

No, I mean running one way and then turning 45 degrees another way... though you reminded me about that move. I'm going to try implementing that into my strategy to see how well it works. Thanks!

by saying diagonal movement, you mean :R1:+:L1:?

Holy crap! So I just started a match and realized that that sideways movement is DANGEROUS. I mean you can be running one way and you can change your direction so fast you leave your defender in the dust. I managed to get a shot on goal on the first play of the game.

cab you show us the actual rating, because im still sceptic...

hmm. I don't have rating screenshots. I've got only for stats. But I keep in mind. Next time I put the rating ss too.

By the way there is another 7.0 ss. (Just take it) Distance dribbled is 731. Sorry but don't have rating ss. As I said next time I take both rating and stat screenshots.

7.0:

NOTE: Don't need to be sceptic. My average rating is around 7.5 for last two seasons. And also 35+ MoM for that seasons. Believe me 8.0 rating is very common for me, but I've got 8.5 rating only twice in BaL. And that ratings were in my other save in Liverpool. (I hate Liverpool's tactic, 4-5-1 not suits me I guess :))

^You can do that on regular. Actually my current rating in 4th season is 7.34. Regular is hard aswell. Actually the only difference from top player is that the AI pressures a bit more. But there's not much of a difference.
But how did he get distance dribbled to 731? The best I got was 345 so far.

shaun7 is right, difficulty is regular. As shaun7 said; main difference between regular and top player is pressure. On top player AI pressures on all of the pitch. But on regular it only pressures you in front of the goal, often around the penalty area. So, on regular difficulty you can dribble more.

@shaun7
The key thing for dribbling is diagonal movement as Just!cE said before. When running to the upper or lower diagonal, turning 45 degrees to other diagonal. My dribbling record is 900+ in one match, I can't remember the exact number.

By the way I played all PES series with fixed setting since PES4. I don't like pro or top player difficulties. Because of AI foresights. AI always knows your movement on professional or top player. I think regular difficulty is more realistic. I rarely played Pes series on that difficulties. I tried a new BaL career on top player. Played 10 or more matches, but result was same for me; didn't like it. AI foresights every movement. I think on regular mode PES becomes more realistic, seems much more like a real football match. My opinion of course :)

by diagonal movent you mean just moving disgonal with no purpose, or running for the goal? i also hated BAL because it was on top player for some reason... untill someone told me you can change it at the end of the season. that really helped me like BAL again. anyway- waiting for a screen shot of 8.5 rating;)

Running for the goal. You can run all pitch to the penalty area. Near the penalty box you can either shot on a goal or give a through pass to a team mate. It depends on your team's form. Sometimes they just wanna lose the match, shoting is best option in that situations :)

You can change difficulty setting at the end of the season. But can't change transfer frequency or classic players. Also I think that difficulty changes during a season. For example last rounds of the world cup is more difficult than first round. And of course your team's form determines the difficulty :)

I sent my 8.5 ratings in previous posts.

My 8.5 rating in Master league fixed setting:
8.5 rating:
By the way I found rating cap for the 8.5 rating. I send it again with rating cap.

As DMF in BaL mode:

^That's so awesome.
BTW I use that 45 degrees turn to dribble. But still my best distance dribbled was 345. I'll try to do better, maybe that time, the 8.5 will finally be given to me.

So Distance dibbled, no matter going back to goal or going forward, will effect the rating the greatest?

it depense on your position. if your a MF and dont pass or pass but not accurate, its lickly you wont get good rating. if your a CF you need to shoot and dribble a lot.

Okay. So, I'm missing something here... One player dribbling and having the ball 9-10 times more than the rest of the players on the pitch is "more realistic" than being closed down by the defense and having to pass the ball???

Ever played in a real (competitive) match? Did you, or anyone else, dribble all over the whole field and have the ball 9-10 times more than anyone else?

I played competitive for many years, and even the best players, who dribble like mad, don't manage that. I don't think you could say even Maradonna managed that! Well, maybe once.

Anyway, in the EPL, La Liga, etc... Do you ever see that? If defenses are tight, then that's realism to me.

While reading all the posts about dribbling in BAL I was thinking the same thing.

who cares about the ratings. as long as I'm getting better than 6, I'm happy because I know I won't be on the bench. Other than that go on enjoy the football and not making sure you get the 8.5.

Also I've been playing it on Top Player and for a while it was very difficult to even score. but then once your player improves and you score a goal, it really feels like the real thing. when you're constantly under pressure, scoring a goal or making a nice through pass/assist is really rewarding.

Regular is much easier than Top player, especially when your player has poor stats at age 17-18.

I say go for the challenge and not dribbling the entire match.
