Right-y ho...

I am looking forward to starting my BAL career as an AMF. From what I have read, the most challenging thing at the start of the game is simply getting through the training matches and into the starting XI, which, presumably, is achieved by attaining decent player ratings, which comes down mainly to successful passes and shots on target (even if they don't make the keeper work).

For this reason, it seems prudent to stick 6 training points into technique (kicking) from the very beginning? As I don't want to neglect any aspect of training, that gives a 'training profile' of 611111, with one strengthening point left over, which I think I'll put into technique (dribbling), as that is the training area which seems to have the best 'synergy' with technique (kicking). At least to begin with, and then adjust after the first season as necessary.

Does that sound sensible? Or am I over-thinking it and talking a load of shit?!

No... for the first few seasons it will be best to have 2 bars on all strengths... Then take it from there... Don't rush into kicking because you need all the other statistics as well.

BTW, look at mine and some other players stats in the topic I made asking for people to post their legends statistics.

I have mostly 70's and 80's now... For kicking and other attributes... So now I'm concentrating on Stamina and Balance, this will make me a better AMF/CMF

Hiho everyone... one thing that most of you probably did not notice.. the point you get for training are not the same for all seasons... Imagine you add 6 points to speed. In your first and second seasons you will get 12 points for training on Top Speed and Acceleration! but on the 3rd and 4th season you will only get 9 points instead, and on 5th and 6th season only 6 points for training.. Every 2 seasons you make you get less 3 points!! so thats why the first 2 seasons are the ones where you develop faster yours stats... so choose where to put your points wisely :)

Does that change your opinion/advice at all?

No... :)

Depending on your position, say CMF for example... I will rather balance my player for the first 2 seasons. Then I will concentrate on my main attributes also balancing them out in the process.

Like for example...

- Having good dribbling and poor body balance will mean you can't take on players, they will just barge you out of the way.

- Having good shooting and poor stamina means you wont ever play a full match.

- Having good attacking and poor defense stats for a midfield player will mean you'll never will the ball back.

And so on... So I'll stick with what I've said all along :)

Sure, but improving kicking abilities as fast as possible as early as possible means that it will be easier to...
Complete more passes & get more shots on target > Get higher ratings > Get into the first XI > Get into the international setup

Once you've done this you can balance the player out more.

I would do this:

Speed & dribbling>balance>passing>shooting>stamina

of course thats my opinion and only works if you have stamina over 80

Aside from Strengthening, what other ways do your stats improve?
And do they improve equally?
And is there any scope for manipulating which stats are affected by these other methods?

I think I've worked out how you get the match EXP points. :)

I have tested this and it seems to be right...

You ONLY get match EXP points for the stats you use and do well with. Couple of examples....

Shooting - If you score goals, get shots on target, you will get match EXP points for this.

Passing - You will get match EXP points for completed passes, short and long.

Heading/Jump - Win headers.

Defense - Tackles won.

And the list goes on.... BUT!

Say you have 6 bars on dribbling, and 6 bars on stamina and you score some goals, you wont get any match EXP points. This is because your not currently training on that attribute. So, my advice to all... Match sure you have at least ONE bar on each strength. This will guaranty you get match EXP points for playing well using individual attributes.

@ PSS, you will find it hard to complete harder and more technical passes, such as through balls... Shooting is the same, even though you may have 80 for shot accuracy, you overall technique my be crap, meaning you are certain to score then he slices the ball over or wide... Which BTW also count towards your rating.

 Not really sure what you mean...?

If I trained technique (kicking) loads, why would my player not be able to complete harder and more technical passes such as through balls? Or slice over/wide from a good position?

Because your body balance for one and two you have a attribute called technique, which is you players overall technique.

Short pass accuracy means the pass will more than likely go to the player your passing to. short pass speed is obviously the speed at which the ball travels. But where's the attribute that determines how the player kicks the ball? Technique :)

So, with a bad overall technique, this will affect the way your player kicks the ball, meaning will he scuff the ball, getting the ball out of he's feet making the pass more like to go to the player and so on... Regardless of whether you have a high attribute for short pass accuracy, it wont always mean the pass wont be accurate.

can you go from a club in for example ther Serie A to a club in the premierleague?

Yes.

@Gaffa; My Legend doesnt get any match experience at all if the rating is below 6.5 no matter how many passes I spray around or shots I get on target. And where it is above that I only get XP for skills I used in the game, eg; heading/jump shooting/passing.

Hmmm... Didn't notice that bit :) maybe that's because I hardly get a 6.5 rating :D

Also, with Chelsea, we have played 10 and won 10 :D I've scored about 6 goals playing DMF... First game I played, coming on from bench they played me CF, against Man Utd, I scored 2 goals :D

Regardless of whether you have a high attribute for short pass accuracy, it wont always mean the pass wont be accurate.

But - Technique would be improved greatly by putting six points into kicking. In fact, it would develop faster with a training profile like 60xxxx than 222222 (where x is any number you want).

I agree about the balance thing, but I wouldn't be neglecting balance altogether - reducing from 2 strengthening points to 1, that's all, and only for the first season or so.

So, as I was saying in a previous post, Attack, Short Pass Accuracy, Short Pass Speed, Long Pass Accuracy, Shot Accuracy, Shot Technique, Free Kick Accuracy, Swerve and Technique would all be improved upon as quickly as possible in season 1, which should be enough to play a solid game and get into the team, and then can work on other aspects of the game like balance, stamina and pace later. I think it's probably more important that you're playing than finishing every game.

Yup.

You can approach it in more ways than one and still get the same results... The main thing is your position. Once you decide on your position, then go from there :)

Ok... It seems like you're perhaps contradicting yourself a little now? Or maybe I'm just explaining myself better, cause you disagreed with me before, and now saying I'm right...? :erm:

You know what? Maybe I should stop posting on here and just wait until I get my own copy and play the game my own way. Stop forcing my opinion on other people who have way more experience than me...?!
