This thread is to talk about the best game that you've had on ML against the CPU. Just a few days ago, i must have had the the greatest game ive ever had against a CPU. It wasnt for a big prize, but it was to qualify for the next stage of the ML cup. I was in a group that included Liverpool, Galatasaray, Betis and i was Ajax. Forward to the exciting part. The last game was between me and Liverpool. What a match it was! the table was like this: 1. Betis 6 points, Liverpool 6 points, Ajax 3 points,and Gala 3 points. Betis and Gala played earlier and Betis won 2-0, which obviously knocked out Gala. So it was down to me or Liverpool. I had to win by two clear goals, coz i was two goals down in the standings, i needed to win by two so i cud overtake Liverpool. This are the highlights
Venue: Amsterdam stadium, night, clear, full packed! lovely fireworks, just like a CL setting. Uniform: Ajax in white and red, Liverpool in all red. I start from left to right. both starts with 4-2-2 formation.
12' - 0-1 Liverpool, Morientes heads home from Gerrard's cross, Stekeneleburg just bloody stares, no movement at all. Worst possible start.
15' - 0-2 Liverpool, things got worse! Crouch gets the ball in midfield form a goal mouth scramble at the other end, gives an accurate through pass to Gerrard who turns and beats heitinga, and slots past Stek.
45+2' - 1-2 Ajax, on the cusp of half time, i got a little lifeline. We responded positively, controlling most of the game, testing Reina so many times, finally we got through him this time, courtesy of a Charisteas strike. Free kick by sikora was blocked but went through the wall, ball bounces once and Charisteas responds first smashing it against Reina's face to make it 1-2.
45' - Half time. Needed to score and make it 4-2! only way to win. So, i make a 4-3-3 formation, all attack, take off de ridder, bring on anastasiou. Start second half.
51' - 2-2 Ajax, My changes paid off. attacking now right to left, de jong ran down the right, beats riise, and from the right side 18 yards crosses. Hyppia looks best to get it, but Anastasiou jumps higher and heads past Reina. 2-2 game on!
53' - 2-3 Liverpool, an almost immediate response from Liverpool! Bloody! Right from the the kickoff of my goal, liverpool completely beat me, and i couldnt get the ball from their passing. Shockingly, Gerrard (the man) makes a superb chipped long pass from the middle, over the heads of de jong and heitinga, right into the path of morientes! on on one.. made my gk rush in, succesfully blocks the shot. but as slowly bounces over him, going to the net, and trablesi runs from the right, can save it, he does clear the from the line, only to see the shot be rebounded by the body of Charisteas, into the net. own disastrous goal! Need to look for some inspiration!
66' - take off Bourkahi and Bergdolmo, bring on Maxwell and Galasek.
69' - 3-3 Ajax, get my deserved goal. This time from a set piece, a corner. Galasek gives a good enough cross which Charisteas looks to head, he does, but rebounds off Reina, but thankfully Maxwell is there to smash it in front of goal. What a double susbtitute!
75'- Realized, i got 15 minutes left, i need to score 2 goals!
88'- 4-3 Ajax, just thinking that maybe i would lose to this game and forget about getting the cup, instead nigel do jong gives me hope! Fine build up play in the middle, started from n.de jong, and ends by him. Beats Gerrard with a "zidane trick" , whooshes past cisse, and makes a right turn past kewell, in where he stands just outside the box from the right side. Hits a hell of a shot to the left corner with a carbon copy of "shevchenko against inter",the ball went past two defenders and hapless Reina only looks on. Doesnt even move a muscle.
90'- 3 minutes of time added on, needed a goal!! Cmon guys one more, what happends next was incredible.
90+3' - Cisse hits straight at Stek. Stek gets the ball, and realizing this has to be the final piece of action. Stek kicks a long ball into the middle. Headed by Gerrard, passes to Luis Garcia, time wasting!. Garcia looks to pass to crouch, but trabelsi gets there first. Trabelsi now running past the half line, makes a long pass, which finds heintinga on the right (dont know how he got there), crosses for any of my attackers finds none, but Trabelsi is on the right. What he does was sheer quality! from the right side he jiggles past l.garcia, comes into the box, gerrard runs onto him but trabelsi makes a left turn, leaving Gerrard sliding outside the box. Goes past Gerrard. I hit the double O, which gives a small cross, Hyppia heads it away, and goes outside the box from the middle area. Maxwell from 21 yards doesnt let the ball bounce and hits a bloody amazing volley and hits the ... crossbar! but to avail, anastasiou has the rebound. With the goal line beng blocked by defenders, and reina getting up from his attempted save, i didnt know what to do and just shoot! hits hyypia, liverpool still safe, ball is now outside the box again.. galasek collects, defenders rushing on him, quickly thinking passes left to trabelsi. trablesi now in the box and with only sissoko in the box decides to blast it! reina saves, heitinga was there to collect (still in the box) and shoots against reina again, reina saves again! ball still in the box, charisteas now with the ball, and for two seconds holds the ball, sees defenders and reina rushing in. So, easily thinking, he makes the a brilliant deft chip which goes over hyppia, l. garcia, reina and yea gerrard too, and over the head of sissoko who was defending the line.
90+3' - 5-3 AJAX! Charisteas who gave Liverpool the third goal justifies himself scoring the winning goal, and sends Ajax through the next round! Final whistle goes, and i myself start jumping around from all the excitement! note: i was standing up from the 85th minute! Was really breath taking, so many shots against reina for that 5ht goal, and finally, just a chip beats them! Was amazing!
Now ofcourse, this is just a game. Anyting happnes, i cant be sure whether Ajax wud really do that in real life. But hell, that was the best game ive ever had against the cpu. Though i might share it with u. too bad i cant post pics.
. but hey, if you've had any other nail biting match, i would love to hear it! it doesnt have to be done through my format, just want to know. it would be brilliant if you guys had matches like this.
P.S. if you will reply with answers saying "this thread is stupid" or things like that, and not having an answer regarding the question, then DONT bother replying ayt mate? thanks..
