Best media??

I was just wondering what type of CD-r's you boys use? I have heard that Verbatim are the best by far. Is this true? I checked out their website but they had so many different models of CD-r i didn't know what to buy!?

In the past I've been using cheapo Sony CD-r's and I find that my machine has trouble reading them after a while. I know it's not my PS2 as I have a new one that has no trouble whatsoever reading all other media (DVD, DVD-r, music CD's etc). A little giudance on this issue wouldn't go a miss!!!!

ive been using the datawrite silver top 80 min cd-r, these are highly regarded as one of the best quality discs. Can pick them up dead cheap at blankmediamarket.com.

Verbatim CDRs are really the best for PS2-backups, but this doesn´t mean that others are bad. I´m only using Verbatims. Don´t think the model does play such a huge role, just take the normal 700 MB ones.

I used infiniti and Verbatim Cd-rs.They work the best when burned at low speeds. They dont put stress on the laser either.

Anyone heard of a CD-r called simply "Black" with a dark (or possibly, uh, black) underside? It's supposed to be easier for the PS2 to read them. Anyone seen them/used them?

I use the cheap unbranded cd's for testing out patches but i use verbatims for the final version.

Thats why i use the cheap cdr's just for testing. I would never use them for actual game playing otherwise they'd kill my laser. Best off to stick with verbatims or any discs witha ritek dye.

"ritek dye"? Is that the stuff that makes the underside darker and therefore easier to read?

been using the quality datawrite silver cd-rs I suggested time and time again, for about a yr now on my 3 yr old PS2. Havent had a single problem with them, my laser doesnt miss a single skip. Lasers dont burn out half as much as people believe due to using cheap media and most good cd-s dont degrade much after use, 90% of laser problems are normally down to laser scratches or misallignment. The cd's I suggested will do the job perfectly, datawrite uses a neat little surface protection process in manufacturing to minimise scratches and thus reduce read errors. Can pick up 25 at blankmediamarket.com for £4.49. When dealing with DVD-Rs discs using the various "Ritek" dyes are the most praised. hope this helps.

Well one of my unbranded cds have infact become see through. it was silver topped but my ps2 just ate into it literally! Just use the Verabtims as they are the most reliable and safest.
