Wow, thanks for posting that Sweey, I hadn't seen the trailer before. That was truly an epic trailer, makes me really want to play the game. I've heard we can venture in the sea this time because of the Big Daddy suit, which I cannot wait to do.

I'm actually very tempted to buy the Collector's Edition also, but seems steep at £60 definitely. I regret not buying the Collector's Edition for the first BioShock.

I've been avoiding news about this since, well, since the last time I posted in this thread. When a game's delayed I'm always a bit cautious getting hyped up again until the release date is firmly in sight.

Lovely trailer (but imagine if those were the actual graphics!), and thankfully doesn't give much away. I've not pre-ordered as I wasn't intending to buy on release, but I may be tempted. The reviews so far suggest it's a worthy sequel.

Thanks Sweey, but I might just stump up for the full collector's edition from ShopTo since it also comes with a Little Sister figure. The Rapture Edition which is cheaper has an art-book quite like the Collector's but, with around half the pages missing and I believe it's not hardback either.

EDIT: Just realised ShopTo's Little Sister figure is only 3.75", which is pretty tiny to be honest, not sure if I'll bother. Might just walk into HMV on release day and pick up the collectors edition and use my Pure HMV card to gain some points as well.

I receive my scholarship through on Monday too I believe for doing well at Uni last year, so I'll probably just stump up the money since I've read these collectors editions are only going through one production run - quite like the original Bioshock. I still regret not buying the first collector's edition with the Big Daddy figure, really rare and hard to find in good condition now which is a shame.

I never usually get so geeky with games, but Bioshock was such a surprise for me. It's undoubtedly one of my all time favourite games of all time. I'm quite an artistic person myself and as such, I guess it might help me appreciate the environments and the sheer genius that's ingrained into the games.

Thanks though Sweey, I'd definitely recommend the Rapture version to anyone who isn't able to afford the full whack as it's a cracking price.

I'm off work today as I've been rather unwell since yesterday morning and dragged myself out of bed at 10am to find out this was left with one of the neighbours at 7:46am. They've just dropped it off - I'm so unwell I couldn't even go and see if they were in - and am installing it now.

Nice to know HMV can do what Play can't (The copy of Mass Effect 2 I ordered from Play still hasn't turned up but I can't request a refund until the 17th).

Reviews are largely very positive but criticisms are that it all feels a bit too familiar to the first game and as mentioned before, the story isn't as memorable. I really hope the start of this game is as good as the start to the first one which is a moment in gaming that sticks in my mind.

Just got back from town (bought the Special Edition big box with everything), went to HMV and GAME to compare prices etc, was quite surprised to see no special editions in GAME though behind the counter. Everyone in there was buying Bioshock 2 though.

I'm not sure I even want to play it now to be totally honest, I want to play when it's night and turn the lights off. :cool:

I have to agree though, the beginning of the original Bioshock was beyond epic. It was even better upon completing the game and finding out the whole reason as to why the plane crashed in the first place. Absolutely amazing, it was graphically superb as well. Like yourself, I'll never forget it. I don't usually play games like Bioshock but after downloading the demo before it came out, I was genuinely buzzing because it was so good.

I'm in the third (I think) major area, Ryan's Amusements. That won't ruin anything as it doesn't hint at what happens.

Look out for splicers with guns. I don't know if its me but they seem to do a lot of damage very quickly. Oh and try not to kill yourself with Telekinesis like I did :faceplm:

I pulled a gas canister toward me with the aim of throwing it at the three splicers below me brandishing guns. Instead, I started getting all tactical and they blew it up in my face :|

Hmm, I bought this yesterday on a whim, havent broken the seal. I didnt give Bioshock 1 a chance and quit after an hour or so, and don't know whether to give this a go or just get my money back....

I think there are seven main areas (levels) in this game. What I know is that I've completed four of them and gave up at the start of the fifth when a Big Daddy equipped with a rocket launcher felled me.

Big Sisters are bastards - quick reflexes and high damage output.

Good story but it potentially went on for an hour or two longer than it needed to. Obviously I can't explain what bits go with what part of the game, but here are some memorable quotes from the final two hours:

"What the fuck?!"

"How the fuck am I supposed to fucking do that?"

I opened my game today, and probably played for about an hour and a half. I really take my time when playing games, as I did with the original BioShock in order to drain as much enjoyment and power out of the story. I tend to pay close attention to every detail, like what's written on the walls, thinking about what the recorded voice messages mean, just all the subtleties in general to help piece the story together in great depth.

I don't want to spoil anything just yet (I'll use our new spoiler system later tonight when posting here), but from what I've played so far I'm loving it. The environments seem somewhat recognisable, but more dark and intense (possible due to a lot of the electronics and lighting breaking over the 10 year gap from the first story?), and when you combine this darkness with the vibrance of the overgrown areas of algae in the environments, it looks artistically stunning.

Played this the other day.

Didn't like it, and thought it was pretty much exactly the same as the first one. Which would explain why I didn't like it.
