This post all about improving your PES/WE 2010 experience. I know we are all into PES 2011. The rude fact is, PES 2011 is a good 4 months away and we would still be playing the 2010 editions until then. PES/WE 2010 has undergone changes in gameplay over the various DLCs. Some might say that DLCs don't change gameplay. I'll only advise you to play the first and current version of PES/WE 2010 to realise the big difference in the gameplay.
Anyway, as I said, the objective of this post is to improve your PES/WE 2010 experience. The below is what I prescribe for the world cup teams and the champions league teams. First up, some observations:
(i) The short passing speed value over 65 is too fast. Anything over 70 creates unrealistic ping pong. This is the reason why even small teams start playing like Brazil. Anything less than 60 makes the ball bobble too much.
(ii) The top speed/dribbling speed over 80 is really fast. Many players being over 80 creates a basketball game and not a football game. Also, anything less than 50 would be painfully slow and would generate poor animations.
(iii) The agility rating under 80 makes the animation a bit too clumsy. Almost all players deserve agility rating of minimum 80.
(iv) The aggression rating has been set high for many attacking players. This creates a big gap between the midfield and the attackers which does not help build up play.
(iv) The form rating for players is way too low. I'd not have anyone less than 5. These are top players most whom would normally play about 40 matches a season.
Here is what I've done:
(i) The short passing speed of all players has been set between a range of 60 to 65.
(ii) The agility is set at a minimum of 80 for all players.
(iii) The top speed and dribbling speed is brought by 10 points each.
(iv) The acceleration is not to be changed at all. It is this acceleration that gives the game the zip.
(v) The aggression of the attackers to be brought down to 80 or below.
(vi) Improving the form ratings of all players so that anyone gets less than a rating of 5.
These changes take about 5 minutes per team and are totally worth it. For starters, just try this on a couple of teams. You can see that the game is far more cultured and calm. As we haven't tampered with acceleration, the game will also have its moments involving quick bursts of pace. The change in the short passing speed means the game will move slower. There are more opportunities to intercept the passes. It is with the change in passing speed, you will start distinguishing between top passers like Xavi, Iniesta and the rest. Try this out and let me know.
While you can try these yourselves, probably by next week I'm planning to upload my option file for you to test it out. Cheers!
P.S: I currently play Winning Eleven 2010: Challenge of the Blue Samurai. I'm playing on PS3 on a 40" HDTV.
