Boniek

Huw

He was never a striker - he played in midfield with Platini for Juventus, with both of them having the same role. There were a couple of Italians that did all the donkey work in the midfield allowing both of them to push forward and join Roberto Bettaga/ Paulo Rossi as much as possible

Yep, nice one huw. One of the donkeys you refer to was Marco Tardelli.

Of the footage I've watched of Boniek, he played alot like a winger and an attacking midfielder. He also used both feet equally so I'm just as confused as to which was his stronger foot. :(

Thats absolutely true my uncle has a video from a game that he went to and boniek is playing in it and he completely dominates the wing, he was playing on the left but used both feet excellently

I didnt say they were donkeys but they did the defensive work leaving Boniek and Platini to do pretty much what they wanted to. Boniek definitely wasnt a winger - perhaps he used to hug the touchine in one or two games as thats where the space was. He was an attacking central midfielder

I know, I mis-referred to the terminology.

I agree with you on this huw, Boniek would draw defenders by lurking all around the opponents half so that Platini and Rossi would exploit the space. It really was a decent setup and worked effectively. I think Boniek was more goal-minded when he played for Poland though, sitting at the SS and/or AMF position.
