box problem...

Hi guys,

I play at 3 stars for the moment but I have a hugh problem!

I just can't make something good in the box. I just doesn't work for me! I defend really good (only 4 concedings). My build up play is quite good for a 3 star game ( it could be better too but I will advance alot by playing so...)

But as said before I have problems with making goals. I get to the box well but then my forwards have the ball (sometimes someone of my midfield) but then the opposition has always a guy or 2 more then my and when the press I can't fit it out and make a goal.

So my question to you guys (girls) is:

"What kind of tricks (or something else) do you do in the box so you createyour own goals? Maybe it's a combo or something but can somebody please give me a tip..."

Thx in advance

Hold onto the ball until your forwards make good runs and give them a :triangle: pass.
Cross with players with good passing ability and try to head some in.

Practice your corners and free kicks and use them with deadly effect. :)

Plus the usual of playing players on better form arrows and with less fatigue etc etc.

Variation is the key.

You could try using Counter Attack strategy. and change the attack level to manual and when you are needing goals have the bar up at red or orange, and down at blue/green when trying to hold a lead. in terms of actually making the goals(last para about support), try 1-2's and when youve played a 1-2 and the player who originally passed is making a run in to space, use the triangle for the return pass. try not to dribble to much, however in the penalty area you can try really tight turns by letting go of everything except L1. this could get you a clear goal or a penalty. Hope this helps!

Do work on headers from crosses/corners, and maybe try setting up first-time shots - hitting [] before the ball reaches the striker.

More generally, try moving the ball across the pitch in midfield, probing the defence to see if you can isolate a DF to get past him, or slide a diagonal pass through to a CF.

The quicker you can move the ball the more likely you'll find the defence out of position, leaving you an opportunity to make the killer pass, or get the player on the ball to dart into the area for a shot.

People will prefer different dribbling styles (L1, R2 mostly?), or passing options (I've seen L1+X - the first part of a 1-2 - recommended for creating space, try L1+/\ - an aerial through ball - from the corner of the area for a CF to volley, if it works you'll love it)

If you can't find an opening, move it back across the pitch and keep trying.

In the French World Cup ('98) the stats people figured out that the teams who scored the most goals were those that completed the most passes within 10 yards of the 'D' outside the penalty area.

always look for a pass that opens up more space once in space think about a shot, but if it not on look of the next pass, repeat till you can shoot. also pratice courners and free kicks becouse they can be viatel in close games

mick03 has the best advice... look for the killer run, and then make the killer pass. most of the time u will then be able to shoot but if not, pass again. once u are through on goal, there is usually someone else running through with u.

What I do in 3 stars is usually run at pace to the opponents goaline (outside the box), then enter acutely (is there such a word), feint a shot, then slot home. Works most of the time!
