BT voyager 205 ADSL router problems

Earthworm

Q. When I try to get into the IP Routing section of my BT Voyager 205, the page simply blinks and returns to the main Voyager screen.
A. This tends to be a problem with software firewalls. Ensure that the Windows XP firewall is turned off, along with any other software firewalls like Norton or Zone Alarm. You will only need to turn the firewall off while you are editing the modem's settings - you can turn it back on once this is complete. If the problem persists even though you are sure you have no software firewalls running, please contact BT.

ok so im having a preblem doing this, ive contacted BT they referred me to another line which is only open in business hours , does anyone have an idea how to help me out here.

do this...

1) Configure the modem. The following are steps for configuring BT Voyager 205 modems. Other modems or routers may require a different procedure; consult your vendor, the documentation or look for your model at www.portforward.com. You are setting up a DMZ for the PS2, meaning it is no longer behind the firewall.
a) Ensure that the modem is connected to a PC.
b) Using the PC, open a web browser (such as Firefox or Internet Explorer) and enter the following into the address bar:
192.168.1.1
Do not use http, www, or //
c) This should open the modem configuration screen. Click ADVANCED on the lefthand side. You may be asked for a password at this stage. The default entry for both username and password is "admin".
d) Select IP Routing.
e) In the drop-down box next to NAT options, select NAT Virtual Server/DMZ
f) Click ADD
g) A window will pop up. Enter the following information:
Rule Flavor: DMZ
Rule ID: 10
LAN IP Address: 192.168.1.10
h) Click APPLY
i) You should be informed that the rule was successfully added. Click SAVE on the lefthand side of the screen.

You can now close the browser window.

2) Configure the Playstation 2. You will be assigning it a static IP so that the router can send it information.
a) Load up PES 5 and select the Network option from the Mode Select Screen (aka the main menu). Agree to the DNAS disclaimer.
b) On the Connect to Network screen, do not load your network settings from the memory card. Instead, press SQUARE to access the Network Configuration Utility. Select Yes when you are asked if you wish to reconfigure your network settings.
c) Select Edit Setting.
d) Load your ISP settings from your memory card. Click YES to confirm.
e) Press d-pad RIGHT twice, click OK to confirm, and press RIGHT again.
f) You should now be in IP Address Setup. Move the cursor to Manual and press X to select it.
g) Press RIGHT. You will be in IP Address Entry. Enter the following information:
IP Address: 192.168.1.10
Netmask: 255.255.255.0
Router IP: 192.168.1.1
Press RIGHT again to enter DNS Server Entry. Enter the following information:
Primary DNS: 194.74.65.69
Secondary DNS: 217.35.209.180
h) Press RIGHT twice, and press X to save.
i) You will be asked to test your connection. Select YES - everything should be functioning OK.
j) Even if the test does not successfully complete, exit the Network Configuration Utility (press CIRCLE until you are back to PES).
k) Try and play online! Hopefully it will now function properly.

my problem was the same as yours i did this and it worked. make sure you input everything correctly and it should work.

DO NOT keep your router set at 192.168.1.1

That's the first address hackers look for as its the default. On a router, you don't keep any passwords as their defaults either, which probably isn't a problem for those of you with BT routers.

Not unless it is a combined modem/router. If it is seperate all you need is the modem.

For non PC owners who bought router from DSL Shop, contact DSL Shop

Please note that BT Yahoo! Broadband technical support can only provide router help where Voyager 205 router is being used. They also cannot support set-ups where a console is plugged directly either into a home PC ('direct connection') or into a standard ADSL modem ('modem connection'). In these instances, you should refer to the PlayStation website for support.
