The following might sound like I hate PES, but trust me I dont. I think its waaaay better than FIFA. I only care about gameplay, not bothered about sock lengths (lol) and team licensing, but heres what I hate about PES 09 :

RED CARDS -

Played 3 Online matches before, over those 3 games I saw 4 red cards for great tackles (1 for me , 3 for my opponents). Ive only played a few offline games and the CPU got a ridiculous red card in one of them - clean tackle with many covering defenders in behind

BAD DECISIONS -

Im sick of great tackles being punished, i was hoping this would have been sorted out but unbelievably its got a lot worse this year

FINISHING -

dont get me wrong im not one for easy finsihing (like FIFA) but the finishing is sometimes a bit wierd. players love to hit it wide from close range. also, the silly toe pokes are annoying when u dont want to finish that way

players diving for a header instead of vollying it even when u've let the ball drop to near the feet

oh and for like the 6th PES in a row - when are are you going to be able to chip the keeper properly?? even when the keeper is quite a bit off his line, it either goes waaay over the bar or the keeper reaches it (unless the ball is bouncing)

AWARDED FREE KICKS / DELAY

when a free kick is awarded and the ball has moved (thus not allowing you to take a quick free kick) the game waits for too long without letting you carry on

KEEPERS KICKING

although its got a bit better - why can u still not direct kicks out of the keepers hands properly - how many years has this not been corrected now?

and a new one this year - WHY do keepers now attempt to slide for backpasses when a simple clearance is all u want. Thats happened and cost me 3 goals already


ONLINE

Im not sure whether the online is going to be improved and what things are going to be corrected with the update but at the moment Online is ridiculous

Even though there is generally less lag than 2008, the lag that exists seems to have more of an effect on general play.

As I mentioned before, im not sure whether silly red cards are being given online only (possibly due to lag) but theyve ruined a lot of my online games already.

Ive seen some very strange offside decisions ie. 10 yards onside being given as off

Players ghosting passed you when uve read the play perfectly

Not being able to control the movemnet of ur player properly

Online is generally quite sluggish, and the LOADING AND WAITING TIMES!!!!! bloddy hell! talk about fustrating. Have u tried having a second player stand over the free kick?? - dont bother - u will wait about 9 years

While Im on the online subject - WHY DO PEOPLE INSIST ON WATCHING EVERY REPLAY???? PRESS START FOR F**K SAKE

I really don't understand all the commotion about licenses... I've had enough of companies taking the piss out of me with games that look so beautiful, yet the gameplay its shit! If Konami was to announce they will get rid of the licenses, and put even more effort into improving the gameplay I will happily buy it.

Licenses mean fuck all, same goes for graphics. If the gameplay ain't there, there game will suck and fail. Just like FIFA. EA do it every year. Not just the FIFA series, but all the other games they publish.

You will always get someone who is willing to put the effort into making option files that bring all the teams up to date and real names, so using licenses as an excuse to say PES is shit... That's just childish.

when did i ever say pes was shit cos of the licenses?
never.
i have spent hundreds of man hours on pes happily editing away to my hearts content (sad maybe but i felt like a part of me was then going into the game)
you cant have a go at EA for having all the licenses, they wernt always the massive company they are now, the licenses wer ther for the grabs and they but the cash ther simple as, and it has paid off cos they now have the exclusive rights.
as for saying the graphics dont matter i agree but you have to applaud the EA team for graphics they can produce

Is there a PES Shop?

and for those of you considering FIFA, here are the cons that i've found so far:

- can't trade players in manager mode
- if a player is in a national team but not in a club, you can't transfer him to a club (arshavin is in russia but since there is no zenit, he is useless)
- Del Piero looks horrible.. so much for the graphics.. he doesn't even reseble
- no international tournaments
- ball feels like a beach ball
- no easy access to make subs during the game.. have to go to team management, then squad, then make changes...
- can't change captain during the game, which is ridiculous when you sub del piero for a reserve he has to be captain..
- transfer period in manager mode is not very good
- there are no rewards for scoreing lots of goals and having the top scorer at end of the season
- no shop
- edit mode is useless and create a player is pure garbage
- players seem to have the same body type (lean, average, heavy)
- kits don't look very good

did i miss something?

now i have to wait for PES to come out here..

OH WOW!

I don't know if this was a glitch (I assume so), or just a lovely touch added...

But I was playing in Master League, picked up a paltry 1 point from 5 games, drawing 0-0 with Aston Villa on 75mins, Ruskin hits a cross in, misses everyone and comes to Gutierrez, whose shot is blocked, but only into the path of Brunt, who volleys it in.

A very standard goal (except for the fact it might lead me to my first win in 10 games) except that Brunt hit the shot so hard it went through the net and behidn the goal. I would assume it was a glitch, but the physics of the ball and net in reaction to this was perfect... and the volley was the fastest I've seen one hit.
