Calling For The Ball....

In BAL mode you can call for the ball, but the call is still active even if it goes to another player for a few seconds. then said player tries a pass which is no longer on and ultimatley you lose possesion. is there any way of cancelling the call once you've done it? i've trawled the manual and net...

Nope, sorry man, you cant cancel the call....

Maybe try reading the game better, so you receive all the bals you call for (without sounding patronising lol)

Or you could try calling less?

i call instinctivly... evey time we have the ball i call for it, the main reason is that my team sucks...

i could be calling for the ball if i was in on goal with no1 around me and the shit AI would still knock it wide almost making me put my head through my tv screen

and the most annoying are the players who dribble across the field, your waiting in open space in front of goal, you call for the ball- and the stupid ass player shoots from 0 degrees...

yeah thats what i suspected....

and yeah, i also call for everything because if you don't then the only other time you'll get a pass is if your holding auto move.

i have learnt not to call for every single ball but it does get frustrating trying to allow your team to create something and you just stick it in. also, if you don't get major involved in the game your rating will suffer. speaking as a LWF... i've not played in midfield.

anyone got any tips for recieving the ball where you want it?

sometimes i'll call for it, start a run, but it will get played in the opposite direction.

I hardly ever call for the ball and get lots of passes. Just try to read the game and get into open spaces. The passes will come.

Granted I don't ALWAYS have the ball, but my ratings don't suffer from it. Usually get 7-8 rating.

Play Fifa, they pass instantly on demand unless it really makes no sense. Allows for some spanktastic one touch moves with your AI friends.

Yeah but you don't want your teammates to only ever play the safe pass to you when your in space. You want them to attempt a special one now and again, but they never do! Or if they do, it is the biggest, most mistimed pile of cack ever.

If by "special one" you mean through pass then the AI does send those. Are you saying your teammates never send a through pass your way?

Like someone has already posted, if you create space for yourself you shouldn't have any problem getting a great pass from the CPU... just remember that the CPU's crosses (for some reason) get crossed into the short side of the box, so get in front of the near post.

run a lot, find a lot of free space, check if your team mate is bodily oriented towards you when in possession and then call for the ball.. works for me every time.

but i hate it when they don't/can't cross diagonally from the wide areas when you are in clear cut chances...

Pass-CAll, only seems to work with short passes and sometimes (very rarely), some awesome through passes...

Generally I never have to call for the ball either, they usually pass just fine when I'm in a good position. They also seem to be able to detect when you start to run into space, as it often generates a through pass from them..
I find I only have to use the call button when in a better position in front of goal then the AI player that has the ball.

with regards to everyone else's input, i tried out a lot of your suggestions last night and i must say, very well done to you all 8 goals in 9 games and 2 assists!!! i have started calling much less and using auto move more to stay in position on the field instead of legging it up and down trying to do the work of 3 positions.

the only beef i still have is the "call cancel" which sadly doesn't exist. i also found that running across the back four when your team is breaking creates a lot of space and creates more chances for assists.
