Can I just patch an option file?

I mean, without having to use my DVD ROM?

Let's say that I have an option file with all the names corrected and I want to edit the teams with all the latest rosters. Is there a way for me to just edit the option file, or patch it, so that when I load the game, the players that are listed for each team are the ones I changed, not the default ones.

For example: I transfer Eto'o to Barcelona. When I go to Edit Player,I can't see Eto'o in Barcelona, so I have to edit him in his former team. But Eto'o is indeed in Barcelona because when I go to the Edit Team area, Eto'o is in the roster.

I just want to edit the option file. Is there a way?

This question has nothing to do with patching so try not to confuse what it is.

You can edit all your players simply using
1. the in-game edit mode
or
2. by using an option file editor on the PC - for which you will need a max drive or an x-port to transfer the option file between the memory card and your pc hard disk.

When you load the game with a memory card in, the option file will be loaded automatically.

I think what he means, is when you patch a PS2 game instead of burning it on a disc can't he patch it onto an OF.

If it was possible to do that then why would we waste time patching and burning onto disks?? No it isn't possible that way.

PS2 PES4 option file = 1.2MB.
PS2 PES4 patch = 400MB.
