do you have to have a modded PS2 or have Swap Magic because there is no mention of either in the guide

Yes, you need either a modded PS2 or Swap Magic to transfer your Option Files from a CD-R onto your Memory Card.

I would've thought that would be obvious by now. ;)

Can i rename the .npo files?

Ex.: BESLES-54203PES6OPT.npo to OptionFile.npo

If not, how can i burn more than one option file in a cd?

How come my .npo file and .cnf, when I press R2 to test validity, say they are not actually valid?
Also, after transferring the option file, it's just corrupted data,

Anybody have a thorough step by step tutorial for XBOX.

Yes, I know this is light years behind the times, but the 360's and PS3s are just to much money for me right now. Especially when I only play the one game on my XBOX anyway.

Everything goes pretty ok. I make the .bin, burn, it goes just like the tutorial shows. I copy the file to the mc. ok. but the game never recognize the option file, when I go to the ps2 browser the file shows like an X-port file. What can I do to make it work?
And, cand anyone here awnser me why the pes save files don't work like all the other save files from other ps2 games? I always get the files, put on a pendrive via usb, use ar max, uncrush to the mc and voilá. however with pes it doesn't seems to work =/
