Change difficulty mid season

Hi all,

I'm only new to PES5, and I had trouble finding the right difficulty setting for my skill level. 2 stars was too easy but on 3 stars I could barely ever get a goal.

Anyway, after finishing the first season in a Master League on 3 stars, where I scored a total of 5 goals but was brought into the top league anyway due to the amount of draws I had, I then dropped it down to 2 stars for my first season in the big league but i'm finding it way too easy.

Very recently, I discovered that PES is best played on 5 stars (which is confusing to say the least) but now I find I can't change the difficulty setting to 5 stars during my Year 2 Master League as it appears the difficulty setting is locked until the next offseason. The problem is, I only just started Year 2 and I don't really want to do a season with that amount of ease.

Anyway, is there a way I can work around the game and change the difficulty setting to 5 stars mid season? Or is there a way I can simulate to the offseason so I don't have to play all these games on 2 stars?

Thanks for any help.

ummm *scratches head*

I said 2 stars was far too easy, but 3 stars was too hard. I then also said 5 stars feels much better, which I read as a tip on these forums in another thread. Not really sure why 5 stars is so much more realistic than 3 stars, but hey, i'm not complaining.

You did read the post, right? It's very premise was the fact I thought, since 3 stars was silly hard, 2 stars would be ok, but I hadn't played on 2 stars yet so I didn't realise how easy it was until I did, and now it seems too late to change to 5 stars until next season.

And I'm the n00b

Anyway, I guess i'll just put it on the lowest minutes possible and get through the season on 2 stars as quickly as I can.

ok

its easyier cos in levl 3 they chuck everonye in defense and it makes u play a crappy style of play and frustrates u which makes u crap...

In lvl 5 they attack and are vulnerable but score more against u. So its more realistic.

I remember playing on 3 and getting 1 goal against but only 10 for... Now in lvl 5 i get 50 for and 20 against average.

by the way - Gun Runner shut ur fat pie hole why even post crap like that? Huh u stupid moron was there any point? why bother ur self? by the way my son wants his bike back!!

My only beef with 5 stars is the CPU, about 90% of the time, attack with airbourne through balls to the sides so they can cross the ball over, which I have very little chance of preventing because by the time I have control of the outside defender he is usually already well out of position no matter which team i'm using. I have to pull off brilliant defensive plays just to pressure the ball out for a corner.

I guess a slight pressence of poor Human team CPU defensive AI can still be seen on 5 stars defending the sides, or maybe I need to tweak the importance of defence in that area with my strategy? that's one area i've yet to really delve into.

i think you are right all i would do if i was you is just try and improve on your defence and they you have got it. that what it sounds like you need to do.

Gah, I just can't seem to get around it. My defense is still incredibly stupid on 5 stars and i'm playing as Real Madrid. They always seem to get out of position before I can control them and often it is too late. Even crappy teams seem to be easily getting the ball to the wing and centering it with ease. Even if I prevent the initial pass to the center my defenders just stand there like halfwits on deflections and don't try to clear the ball. It's like you have to babysit every player and do everything yourself, while you go up against CPU AI that is about 10 times better than the AI of your CPU controlled teammates.

Plus there's still that "invisible barrier" effect on 5 stars where you can't seem to run full speed all the time, namely to intercept passes and stuff. It's like, sometimes when i'm trying to cut off a pass i'm bouncing up against an invisible barrer that's stopping me from getting the ball so it can safely get to the player it was intended for. Very frustrating.

eeerrrmmmm, i am not to sure what you need to do then it is not this case with me. have you tried going on 4 star and see how that is. maybe it is the team you are useing try diffrent tactics formations.

Well, i've at least figured out one of my problems - that "invisible barrier" thing I mentioned. I just learnt the ways of the SuperCancel :)

I bet it has been asked 99991929242211 times, but why don't Konami just make all player movement "Supercancel" by default?

Because untill they make all controls and movements fully analog (not just 8-way like they are now), it wouldn't be acceptable for everything to be "Supercancel" style movements.

Since you can only run in 8 directions, you usually have to resort to wiggling the stick like crazy trying to manouver the player to the ball, basically making him look like a drunk.

And if you learn to use SC properly, it becomes so transparent and intuitive that you aren't bothered by the occassional weird behavious from your players. Of course there is still big problems with players temporarily stopping when you go to or from supercancelling while running.

I've gotta say when i first got PES5 for my Xbox I played my first game on 1 star just to get the feel for it, then 2 stars and then onto 3 stars which i did find very difficult, a lot of 0-0 draws, i've gotta be honest and say in my opinion 4 stars is easier and more realsitic than 3 stars definitely. Give it a bash.

I find that 5 stars ends up as a tense midefield battle with hardly any goals scored either way, 4 star gives a bit more spacee to spray the ball around and to react to the CPU.
