"Awright, here goes. I didn't really like PES2, PES3, WE6FE or WE7, so I just kept on playing PES1. But to spice that up, I've started editing it. I think I'm the only active PES1 modder in the community, and it hasn't exactly been an easy thing to do. But here I am, ready with my first release of a patch. Here's what's in the readme.txt file:

Foreword:
I loved PES1 to bits. But you couldn't do anything about the club team rosters, and the kits
were all total crépe. That always annoyed me. PES2 and PES3 were both big piles of dog poo, imo,
so I decided to mod my beloved PES1, like people were doing with the japanese versions.
I hope this patch will save a lot of PES1 lovers from doing all this by themselves, as it really
does take quite a lot of time. I hope you'll enjoy it.

VISUAL MODIFICATIONS:
- All club kits done with away kits as well, and even gk kits for some.
- 30% of the national teams have updated kits. All the biggest teams. I've made
this patch all by myself, and making kits for poland, etc. just doesn't make much sense to me.
- A lot of face textures updates from newer versions. Roberto Carlos, Pires, etc. all look much better.
- The Boots have been heavily revamped.
- The ball is the normal Champions League ball.
- The facial hair textures have been improved. Amongst other types,
you'll now find sideburns, which are heavily used with the classic teams.
- The pitch textures have been changed, so they look much better.
- Stadium textures have also been updated with textures from newer versions.
- The menus have gotten a complete overhaul. The old ones were dark and drudgy, so I changed them.

DATABASE MODIFICATIONS:
- All player, club and stadium names are corrected
- Almost all transfers are done
- Player stats have been tweaked.
- Leeds has been changed into Celtic.
- West Ham has been changed into Manchester City.
- Palmeiras has been changed into FC København.
- Boca Juniors has been changed into Galatasaray.

AUDIO MODIFICATIONS:
- Commentary has been improved as well. I've basicly
replaced some of the most stupid phrases with better ones from from PES2, PES3 and FIFA games.
- A few call names have been improved as well.
- Background music has been tweaked a bit.

I haven't got any in-game screenshots for you, as I don't have the equipment for that. But here are some shots from 3ds max. Believe me, they look a LOT better ingame, with the correct rendering and lightning:

HOW TO GET THE PATCH:

Right, I've uploaded it to Lomungtung's FTP, where you'll find it in the 'PES1 Patches' folder. It's the only thing in there, and it probably will be for a long long.

The patch has been sliced up in 15 different files: PETEYS_PES1_PATCH_V1.zip, *.z01, *.z02, *.z03, and so on all the way up to PETEYS_PES1_PATCH_V1.z14. Each file is 10 megabytes big. So the patch is about 140mb big all in all, which shouldn't take too long for the average surfer.

I'll try to get some mirrors for the patch myself, but I'd love for anyone to host it anywhere if they could. I'd really hate to have to upload it again with my slow connection. So if you run a site and have a download section, please consider hosting the patch.

PES1 is on a CD so there is no need to rip it.
As far as I know, you make an image of PES1 and then patch it.
I'll give it a go when I can and let you know what I think of it.
