COM Goalies = Supermen?

The way game cheats when playing agains AI is incredible in every PES installment! Aside pitch players' superhuman power and speed, COM controlled keepers are sometimes just unbeatable (talkin' 'bout two highest difficulty levels). How, in sam hill, are you supposed to score against Buffon, Van Der Sar or Julio Cesar if not out of deflections (or penalties)? Sure as hell you can't do it by mere shooting and/or close range headers! Them punks are all over the goal! You may be lucky enough to net one or two with the likes of Rooney and a (literally) few other bazooka-footed kickers but what 'bout the rest of poor, helpless game roster that doesn't posses shot power above 90?

Press Square and aim.... that usually helps...

Honestly, not that hard to actuallly score... the hardest thing is to create an opportunity to score...

When in the penalty area, hold R2 when shooting, this allows the player to place the shot.

A placed shot is one of the best things in Pes 09. It works really well. I know what the threadstarter is saying. The goalers are incredible when the com use them.

Am I the only one who find the GK's amazing for both myself and the AI? lol... Compared to all the other PES titles, I've never seen the keeps pull off some of the saves I've seen in 09.

In PES6, if you hit a shot sweetly, you new it was going in. Now... Whether its top corner or point blank they do some fantastic saves. Couple times online, he's played a ball over me and I've just left him thinking he will score it anyway, then the keeper saves... :)

tbh i think the keepers are pretty realistic. i mean buffon, cesar and casilas are bound be quality shot stoppers, have you seen thm perform in reallife? at the end of the day you just got to try and catch them off guard, like shooting on the first touch or take a long range effort that is a make or break shot.

finesse shot is not done by holding R2, it is actually done by pressing square THEN R2. So press it when the gauge appears (You know you did it right if the player does a double kick animation).

If you're trying to beat them 1v1, it is very easy. just slow down b4 the keeper and do a shot feint, works every time. Against crapping keepers or if you're a fast player, slow down in front of the keeper, then diagonal sprint to get past them. Easy.

Thanks, man! I'll try that.

Just being a little sarcastic....

About the amazing GKs, they can be a pain in the ass, but they have 2 weaknesses.

One is near post shots... you can now score a bunch load of them...
Just aim to the near post...

Other is rebound shots!
They fumble a lot of balls, and if you can get there (or even better shoot in a way you know the GK will fumble it) it's a sure goal.

i do think the goalies are an improvement over 2008. In 2008, all i had to do was get a powerful shooter like Adriano, Rooney, etc and get the shots on target and the keepers would not be able to hold unto it and can only parry it for an easy tap in... And it happens quite often with even the top keepers like Buffon, Cech, Casillas... What i would like to see is them pushing shots around the post or over the bars instead of parrying it back into play. It does still happen in 2009 but at least its not exactly as atrocious as 2008. At least i don't see the top keepers do it with a disparaging consistency.

I think Casilas and Buffon are over rated. :) Anyway...

Your best chance of scoring if catching the keeper off balance. Meaning you run diagonal down the left outside the pen area (as your running to there near post) then shoot at there far post. They will be shuffling left and get wrong footed, works every time.

Hmmm... I'll have to try that, I just hold R2 then shoot, works for me?

I'm not talking aboutthem though as Buffon especially is really, really great but some crap keepers are also superhumans sometimes.

In BAL I've play the same team twice. First the the keeper saves everything, next game he makes a few blunders... Wasn't a great team, just an average team.

Well I think the goalies are quite poor actually. They ALWAYS spilled the shots and someone would score from the rebound.

I Disagree pal... The keepers are if anything worse than last years, they are such clowns. I have seen it mentoned, the most difficult thing is to find space to shoot. The COM defence always manage to get a block in or make my player stumble in turn making him spoon the shot over & half the time the shot goes straight down the throat of the keeper who fumbles the ball all the time. Really unrealistic TBH

Slightly off topic but do you remember how good the keepers were in ISS Deluxe? Unless you were around 6 yards out, the goalie would never let it. They also had a canny habit of catching absolutely everything. I was playing it the other day and it was crazy!

No man, beast or a god can stop a powerful drive that's heading for keepers opposite top corner and, yet, these COM controlled freaks do it almost every time! Real life nothin'!

True... to a certain extent. The goalies are a bit clumsier then before but still are a miracle workers. Getting into a opportunity is not that hard, actually. Important thing is to remember NOT to hold dash while trying to find a space for a shot.
