Nice one m8, but could you pls do his stats to, because he's really underrated i think !! His shot power must be like 97 or something like that ! So can someone pls update the stats and basic settings etc. please !! And maybe someone can do Alcides from Benfica too. They say he's the next Lucio !!!

Right guys, in about five minutes Juninho will be up. I have enjoyed doing him immensly, and the review is something of a monster read, but he is a terrific player and a lot needed to be set about him as he gets little praise.

Thanks to Timfen for that appearance, a great one. I will get back to replies after I have posted up the Juninho post.

In my opinion Juninho Pernambucano is one of the top midfielders in the world, and one of the best players we have seen playing in Europe in the last 5 years. A talismanic figure for Lyon, and undoubtedly the driving force behind Lyon's tremendous success, he has been the key figure at Lyon since moving there 5 seasons ago. He has developed great affection for the club, and you can see that it means so much to him to pull on that shirt. I'm disappointed he didnt really get the break at international level:( , but playing for Brazil means you will always struggle to make the first 11. That said he would always make the first 11 for me!

Set piece ability - I dont normally start off by talking about this, but with Juninho its the first thing you have to talk about. He is the best free kick taker in the world today. Fact! I have never seen anyone strike the ball in such a consistent manner, and he has an almost unnering ability to score from them. I can remember watching Brazil vs Greece in the confederations cup, and he came on as a substitute. Whilst he was warming up one of the commentators was saying; 'I've heard this guy is quite good at free kicks. I wonder if we will see something this evening?' 2 minutes later, Juninho had dropped a fre kick into the bottom corner from about 27/28 yards. The keeper didnt even move. The thing that seperates him from other free kick takers is that he can do so many variations of them. For example, David Beckham has a distinct type of free kick, and thats the only way he can take them. Juninho can blast them in from 35 yards to the keepers nearer side if he needs to. He can dip them into the BOTTOM corner like nothing I have ever seen. He can loop them over the keeper. He can curl the ball amazingly. Basically, he has the ability to ADAPT his free kicks to different situations. This seperates him from people like Beckham, Pirlo, Riquelme. So ingame he has sensational abilities in respect to free kicks. A maximum 99 for free kick accuracy, and a 96 for curling. You can get realistic dip and swerve with those stats. He also has fantastic shot power of 90. With these stats you should view any free kick within 35 yards a scoring opportunity, just as he does in real life.

Passing and vision - This is what gives so much to Lyon. Juninho has fantastic vision, and the ability to play short and long balls to an extremely high calibre. He complements the fantastic Diarra in midfield and, and his link between Diarra and the forwards is the key to the side. Both 90 for short pass accuracy and short pass speed show how he can play superbly weighted short balls around the park, and stats of 91 and 89 for the repective long pass abilites show the same for playing lofted balls. So with these 4 values we have the basis of accurately depicting Juninho's passing ability. The next stage is to consider the special stars. Predictably, his abilites are further bolstered with the inclusion of the passing and playmaking stars. He has the ability to play cutting passes from all areas of the field, not just the final third. With these two stars we have definitley refelcted Juninho's abilites well. But there is one final thing to take into consideration, which a lot of people may not understand, and that is to include the tactical dribble star for him. Yet another thing that sets him apart from other great passers is that he has PATIENCE, and he looks to keep the ball until an opportunity presents itself. A player like Lampard, who has fantastic passing undoubtedly, may sometimes play the pass merely for the sake of it or because he doesnt have the patience. But Juninho often keeps the ball until the perfect pass arises, and if not he will keep probing away. The tactical dribble star means that he is going to be more inclined to keep hold of the ball if an opportunity is not presenting itself, and wait until he sees the pass. In conclusion of his passing it is CENTRAL to the success of Lyon, and I believe he is the best passer in the Brazilian national team. (Only by a little though, remember Brazil do have players like Kaka and Ronaldinho!:) )

Love of the club and work rate - Like I said before, Juninho has somewhat fallen in love with Lyon, and he shows great emotion for the team. It really means something to pull on the Lyon shirt to him. So what I want to mention is his mentality. He has a very good mentality value of 84. But then again lots of players have high mentality, so whats the big deal? Well when you look at his mentality in comparison to his AGE, this highlights perfectly the point I am trying stress about his love for the club. When a player reaches this high age, you normally see them struggle in later parts of match, or slow and ease up a bit. But Juninho still has the love and desire to do well for Lyon, and he tries very hard in the later stages of the match. It sets a perfect example to other, younger members of the team, and is yet another reason why Lyon have experienced such success. You can bet that if Juninho wasnt playing for a club he had played for for 5 years and grown to love, he probably wouldn't have the same work ethic that he has now. He still has great stamina aswell, particularly for someone of his age. (Only people like Roberto Carlos and Cafu have higher stamina at such late ages; and surprise surprise, they are Brazilian! )

Goal scoring potency - Juninho is always a goal threat. He is blessed with high values in all three shooting categories, particularly power and technique. One thing whcih can definitely be said about him is he is accustomed to shooting in a cramped area, and has developed great ability to keep composure when under lots of pressure from defenders or other midfielders. Due to this, he has a value of 89 for shot technique, and ingame he acts very realistically when shooting in proximity to defenders. He also has fantastic shot power, which aid him in his long range strikes immensly. A value of 90 for shot power has been assigned, and he can really leather the ball if he needs to. Undoubtedly his shooting abilities have gotten better due to his free kick ability and practice, so that is probably a reason as to having high shooting stats. Finally, he has great shot accuracy of 84 aswell. I dont really need to explain this really, he is just very accurate! His shooting ability is further enhanced by the inclusion of the middle shooting special star. we now see him scoring some belters from distance ingame, just like he does in real life. Juninho is a great example of how if we get the right balance in th shooting values, then we get a very realistic outcome.

Typical Brazilian - As with every Brazilian player I update or look at, Juninho has got great technical ability, which gives him yet another edge in midfield, especially when playing in a tighter area. A very high value of 88 for technique demonstrates a great first touch, and also the level of his tricks and stepovers (Admittedly we dont see these very much, but he has several tricks up his sleeve!). Great dribble accuracy is another valuable asset of Juninho, and makes him all the more efficient at what he does. Coupled with his technique, we can see that we have the right balance between these two values, and so his ball control is very realistic ingame now. A better than average left foot aids him aswell, and he uses it fair bit. Probably one of the few areas we might MAYBE expect a little more, but it is by NO means a flaw.

That is really all I have to say about who I feel is one of the top midfielders in the world, and someone who gets nowhere near the amount of recognition as he should:no: . There are lots of great midfielders like Lampard, Gerrard, Pirlo, but I feel that Juninho has something a little extra to him. He has lots of elements to his game which give him the edge in matches and which seperate him form other players. He is simply class, and one my all time favourites.

Dont be stupid Timfen. Its great to have you onboard! If you dont already consider yourself one, you are now an official editor of this thread. And dont worry about being away Cali, everyone has things to do so this is perfectly understandable.

Anyway, I havent had any real feed back for Juninho. Im interested to see how people found the written part, as I was very pleased with it, and felt it was maybe one of my best yet.

Bag, tommorow ill put your stats on my game then play a match including Juninho in it. After the match i'll post what he done well in the match eg: Free-Kicks, Interceptions etc, and I'll post what he done bad aswell, so then people can tell just how accurate your stats are!
