Probably one of the if not hottest young prospects around currently and playing in a top class team like FC Barcelona and a superb international team like Argentina will undoubtedly help him to develop into an even better player which is quite a scary prospect! Playing alongside the likes of Ronaldinho and Eto'o for Barcalona would have put a lot of pressure on the boy to perform, but he has risen to the task magnificently, and performs pure moments of magic infront of a 100,000 strong crowd.
His role on the pitch and his positioning - Firstly lets talk about how he is played at Barcelona and how HE interprets that role. Normally utilised as an outside man of a three pronged attack, he plays a very advanced position. One of the great things about him is he is always looking to join attacks and push very far forward. This is represented by his high aggression value of 90, so he is always going to be getting forward to help the attack out. One thing to notice like I said is how HE likes to play his role. He is utilised in that front three, but he always naturally wants to maintain that high position. With value of 82 and 41 for attack and defence respectively he wont be dropping back that much, and this coupled with his aggression emulates his real life behaviour very well. Another thing to mention is his natural tendency to drift back out wide when looking for the ball, so he can start those daunting runs at the full backs and maybe cut inside for a shot. To demonstrate his wide positioning he is assigned with the side star. All these factors combined together give us some very realisitic movement, positioning and behaviour from our ingame Lionel Messi.
Physical attributes - Lionel is a real athlete, with great pace and agility. This is his best and most exciting area as it gives him the ability to take on defenders and go on those mesmorising runs we see him go on, which are a joy to watch.

So its key that these features are represented as well as possible in game. Firstly great top speed and acceleration of 91 and 92 respectively. These are just right as they give him that lethal ability to skin defenders and burst away quickly. Particularly noticable is his dribble speed, equal to his top speed. Next his tremendous agility. A figure of 92 is great ingame. You really notice his quick unpredictable movements, and the ability to turn a defender at the drop of a hat, or wriggle his way through tight gaps

Good strength for a little guy aswell, 78 being the perfect value for balance. So all of these figures give us realistic behaviour regarding Messi's physical attributes ingame.
Technical Ability - Another tremendous area of his game is his fantastic ability regarding technique. Firstly he has a great first touch, and great skills regarding tricks and feints. 87 is great for technique, and shows his abilitys very realistically. Next is his dribble accuracy. Lionel Messi has great ball control when he is dribbling along at defenders. Its even more impressive when you consider the speed that he is dribbling at!:shocking: So a very high figure is needed for dribble accuracy and 88 is very realistic.
His improvements - Has improved greatly during this season in some key aspects of his game that are often lacking in young players

. Firstly his team work. Would have been a mid 60's guy if this update had been a season ago, but he has done very well to improve this aspect of his game, and 76 is a much more appropriate value for team work. The best thing is there is still room for improvement, especially being at such a young age.

The same can be said for his mentality. A season or two ago he would have been mid or high 60's in this, and I was afraid it might stay the same. This is often common with young talent in the Spanish or Italian leagues:no: . They dont really contribute fully over the full 90 minutes. Lionel Messi has done well to improve his mentality though and has now got a high value of 79. Passing has also improved as well, undoubtedly whilst he has developed his team work ability. He isnt just someone who can run at defenders any more, but someone who is confident playing the ball around, and is good passer.
So he is a great talent and like I said one of the hottest young talents at the moment. My one wish is that he doesnt encounter any serious injury problems over his career, because I cannot wait to see him in 4 or 5 seasons!
